Is the transmission fluid level topped off when warm?

Has the transmission been flushed and filled within the last 30,000 mi? Dirt and clutch dust can accumulate in the orifices of the solenoid causing malfunctions of the transmission.

A flush and fill is a $100, or so, fix if this is the case.

If, however, the damage has been done to the solenoids due to wear and tear of the clutches, then the transmission will have to be rebuilt or replaced with a low mileage one that doesn't malfunction in this manner.

1995 chev suburban 2500 wont stART

First, you need to know that when you are asking for help with your vehicle - ESPECIALLY when you have and engine that will not run, there is some standard information you should include:

> C-2500 Suburban (2-Wheel Drive) or K-2500 Suburban (4-Wheel Drive)?
> Which ENGINE is your Suburban equipped with?
> Is this an AUTOMATIC or STANDARD transmission?

These things can all make a HUGE difference in the wiring diagrams for your vehicle. There are also some components that are used on one vehicle that do not exist on others. So, to make sure we are working with the correct information for your vehicle, it is necessary to get a FULL description of the vehicle.

With all that said, I also find that the problem description is a little unclear. When you say "No response from the ignition electrical system", do you mean that the starter will not crank the engine? Or do you mean that the starter is cranking the engine, but there is no ignition? Or do you mean something more like nothing works when the ignition switch is turned on?

When it comes to electrical diagnosis, it is very important to know what IS working, as well as what is NOT.

Get back to me with this information and I will see if I can help you.

I have a 1995 Chevy Suburban K1500 with a 350 4x4, when I start it runs good. When I put it in gear and let idle it wants to die for the first couple or miles and then it's fine. I have changed the plugs,...

I would look at the timing belt if it's never been replaced. Sounds like it is having issues under a load or the tensioner isn't working properly. Another possible issue could be a vacum component that isn't functioning properly until the engine and transmission get wormed up.

Before you start taking apart your dash make sure that your vehicle speed sensor is working. It should be attached to your transmission. Hope this helps.

I have a 1995 suburban 4WD with a 350 gasoline engine. I can not switch to 4WD. When I try to switch to low and not drag the lever quickly over. Will the scratch sounds. I get no light in the 4WD indicator...

First, make sure the engine is sufficiently warm, at least 80 degrees.
The vehicle should be slowly rolling at about 2 to 5 mph and the transmission should be in NEUTRAL when shifting into 4x4 Low Range. It will grind and/or lockout otherwise. 4x4 High is suitable for snow and ice driving on pavement or gravel roads.

If the overall length of the tailshafts are the same, If I remember correctly, you can just swap the tailshaft housings. In some cases though, the output shaft needs to be swapped as well. Check with any transmission shop and they can tell you for sure!
