Why are the pumps being replaced? are the connectors OK, they are famous for melting where the harness connects to pump at top of fuel tank.

1996 GMC 1500 truck, Vortec 6 cylinder. Will not start after being turned off for a few hours. Engine turns but won't catch. When I spray some starter fluid in the air filter line to the carb, it will...

I would lean towards the fuel pump, but... How dirty was the old filter??? if it was bad then the new one may have picked up whatever was left in the line. I guess I would go the easy route, replace the fuel filter, this time with the filter off crank the truck and catch the fuel in a mason jar til it is clean, you may need to drain the tank and try to clean it out if it is real dirty. Hope this helped Tim

92 gmc pu 5.9 liter engine starts and dies or won't start

Make sure the all wires on the steering colum is pluged in tight. You probably don't want to here this but don't settle for anything less than a GM fuel pump. I had to replace one five times in one truck in 6months. If not the fuel pump check fuel regulator. Now on another note if this is the same truck losing power keep in mind the ECM is what pulsates the injectors for fuel to the engine. It could be back to the ground problem

2001 Xterra - Replaced fuel pump twice and is still not running.

I am no expert, but I just had a similar problem. The car would shake and buck when accelerating. It finally just died and would not start. After sitting for some time, the car would start and run a while, then do the same thing. I thought fuel pump. The dealer diagnosed distributor. After replacing, the car is running perfect. Something to think about. Good luck.

Truck sometimes starts, sometimes quits after running

It sounds like you have a defective fuel pump or a bad fuel pressure regulator.

Stalling

Possibly faulty ignition module is the problem, stalls when engine is hot when you sit for a while it cools off and runs again until it heats up again, those are usually the symptoms of a bad ignition module and after a while it may give out all together and not run at all, usually if the module is at fault it shuts down the fuel pump so the engine don't load up with fuel, do to when engine continuously cranks over the injectors never stop squirting fuel and flood the engine do to lack of spark which is produced by the module, this could possibly be your problem.
