You could possibly have a blown fuseable link in between the altenator and battery.a fuseable link is a hard piece of rubber that has a fuse inside of it. the rubber is an insulator. when you locate it, the rubber will be burnt hard and very dry. it will crack under pressure is one way to check it and you will have several of those links, links to different electrical components. one easy way to check if your altenator is charging is with the engine running, remove the positive cable from battery[ careful not to ground it or let it touch any metal] if car dies, altenator charge is not going to the battery. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

71 c10 not staying charged... new battery alternator fuses good and new voltage regulator

Maybe it wasn't running long enough to charge up the battery?
Stop trying to jump it, when you are having problems with it dying, take the battery off and have it charged. And/or buy a $20 voltmeter to see what the battery shows. If it says less than 12 volts, it is discharged, and needs charging. A good battery that is not run down should have at least 12.5 volts. A new battery that is charged should have very close to 13 volts, maybe 12.8 volts.
When you have the truck running, check the alternator for charging. You put the voltmeter right on the battery and check it again. This time, with truck running, battery should show at least 13.5 volts. That shows the alternator is working. A good alternator will put out about 13 or 14 volts-the regulator will keep it from going any higher to prevent problems, like a melting battery or electrical parts burning out.
I would say get the charging system working right, then address the problem of dying at stop lights. That could be a carburetor problem, if the alternator is working.

I suggest taking the battery out and have it tested first. the heat can kill the charge on a battery even though it is only a few tears old. if the battery test good then have the alternator checked.the alternator on your car is on the right side of the car near the rear of the engine compartment.

Charge the battery and replace the alternator. It show promise when it can jumped. The battery is likely still good. If the alt. has been whining, it was giving the indication that the bearings have worn. With excessive heat and vibration, it will kill the internal workings all that much faster.

It sounds kind of like you have bad alternator. The alternator uses the engines power to recharge the battery. When you replaced the battery the car ran off battery power untill it died. If the car will run while hooked up to another car while being jump started then the problem is deffinetely the alternator..

Please give a good rating, it is very importat to us..
