Most likely to be an O2 sensor or a egr valve. Most likely there is a check engine code stored in your computer that could help you narrow it down.

Ford ranger blows black smoke when i am driving along all the time it's a 3L diesel

1st inspect for a dirty blocked airfilter element as it indicated excessive overfueling possibly caused by block airfilter element.
2nd place would be either injectorpump overfueling.
Did anyone enrich the injectorpump at the enrichment adjuster?

Lexus overfueling producing smoke

Over fuelling is black smoke, most other colours are engine wear. What colour is it or do you know there is an overfuel problem?
The breakdown of one or more sensors giving info to the ecu is likely the cause. You don't give the mileage but when was it last serviced? Smog checked etc.

Why want 6.0 blow black smoke with banks 6 gun iq

Black smoke from a diesel is caused by overfueling, even with a banks the engine obviously is burning the fuel efficiently. Black smoke will not make your truck produce more power, i am not sure why you would want this to happen anyway.

White smoke from tailpipe, running poorly.

Blown head gasket for sure if its a petrol engine.

If its diesel then its overfuelling.

Hi, what does it mean when huge amounts of white smoke comes out of the exhaust? otherwise drives ok? it is a renault megane 1.5 dci 2004. regards catherine

Symptom: White smoke or water vapor from the exhaust. You notice white smoke coming from the exhaust when you start your car. If it is cold out, this may be normal. If the smoke does not disappear after the car is warmed, you have a problem. Possible causes:
  1. Transmission fluid may be entering the intake manifold through vacuum modulator.
    The Fix: Replace vacuum modulator
  2. Cylinder head gasket(s) may be bad.
The Fix: Replace cylinder head gasket(s).
  3. Cylinder head(s) may be warped or cracked.
The Fix: Resurface or replace cylinder heads. (Resurfacing is not a DIY job)
  4. The engine block may be cracked.
    The Fix: Replace engine block.

My Corvette smokes a black sooty exhaust about half the time. I've driven it about 3000 miles in last 4 years. What is the problem and how can I repair?

Black smoke is caused by excess fuel that has entered the cylinder area and cannot be burned completely. Poor fuel mileage is also a common complaint when black smoke comes out of the tailpipe. Black smoke out the tailpipe is the least cause for alarm. Excess fuel will usually effect engine performance, reduce fuel economy, and produce a fuel odor. Some of the causes of excess fuel are a carburetor that is out of adjustment, a faulty fuel pump, a leaky fuel injector, or a faulty engine computer or computer sensor. If black smoke is present, check the engine oil to make sure excess fuel has not contaminated it. Do not start the engine if a heavy, raw fuel smell can be detected in the engine oil.
