is there any special tools needed ?

Go to Walmart and get a tool set for Automotive Repair or Mechanic's Tool Set or Screwdriver with different bits on it so that if it is a Torx 15, as an example, it will come out (like aiming headlights tool).

The screws may have special size and shape designs in them that require these inexpensive toolsets to remove. It is likely not a simple Philips or Flat screwdriver that is required to take it out. I got the information above from Chilton online manual, and it doesn't specify what head to use, but it will become apparent if you look at the MAF Sensor what tip to use.

I think the entire toolset from Walmart costs under $15 or so. The last time I bought a set was a couple of years ago.

You can also go to Autozone or Advance Auto and borrow their tools through their borrowing program where you pay for the tool and return for a refund within a specified amount of time.

    Good luck on this repair.

The tool to take it out may be special, but many outlets sell cheap versions of the tool required to remove the screws.
