Hi. Every time you turn ignition on you should hear your fuel pump working for few second. (Priming) if you can't hear it turning on check fuse or fuses and relay first before you check the pump.

SOURCE: need to replace fuel pump for my 1998 dodge ram 4x4.

there is an easier way to replace the fuel pump than dropping the tank. I replaced mine last week in about 30 min. I simply took the bed off only six or eight bolts depending on bed size, a few tail light wires and filler neck and over flow. might need someone to help get the bed off though.

will try to help. i recommend 1st replace your fuel filter, if that does not work, i,ve seen cases where something has been shoved into the fuel tank, such as a leaf, or grass, when the tank gets low on fuel the pump sucks it[the whatever, leaf or grass] up against the fuel pump intank filter, and it stops the flow of fuel to the engine. i know it sounds crazy, but it actually does happen. got any enemys? maybe an ex, or another someone who wants to cause you trouble? or it could just be rust, floating inside the fuel tank, and when your fuel gets low, the fuel pump is constantly pulling to supply the engine, the foreign object disrupts the flow of fuel inside the gas tank, next time this happens, try shaking the truck body back and forth or side to side and then try starting it, if this works, the fuel tank will need to come out and the debris removed, suggest while the tanks off, you replace the fuel pump[sock] filter. thats the filter at the pump itself that does'nt let debris into the fuel pump itself. hope this helps and as always, if you need further assistance please post your question and an expert will be happy to help you!!thank you for choosing

How to change a fuel filter on a 2002 dodge ram 1500 4.7

This is the year that dodge decided to put the fuel filter in the gas tank instead of inline on the railing. Just either empty the gas tank or make sure that there is hardly and left in it considering it will be heavy. Pull the necessary lines off top of tank and hoses and than take the nuts that hold your straps on the tank off. Remove tank and pull fuel filter.

98 dodge ram 1500 Truck ran out of gas. It will start w/ starter fluid sprayed in filter but will not stay running.

Since the fuel pump is in the gas tank, your pump picked up debris, and dirt on the bottom of the tank and ran it into your fuel filter.
Replace fuel filter, and check fuel pump fuse.
Running your vehicle with less than a 1/4 tank of gas is hard on the pump, because the fuel pump uses gas to cool it.
Please let me know what you find.

I just replaced the fuel pump in my 92 dodge ram 150 5.2 318 and it still wants to start and studder and run like its starving for gas and i start it and turn it off and restart it 3-5 times until it...

Did you replace fuel filter and why did you replace pump in the first place? Is there any junk in the gas tank? and did you flush the lines out? Also is the fue pressure regulator in working order?

1991 dodge ram d 150 excessive shaking when at a stop.

hi, this may be a timing issue. i would start by tuning up the engine with new coil/distributor points and plugs and wires. check the fuel system for dirty filter and malfunctioning pump. check for water in the fuel lines as well.
