Usually the problem is one of the switches on the door apature is going directly to ground. try taking out the switch on each door and make sure the wiring is good or the switch isnt stuck open.

Its the door sensor if you look on inside of door where it closes you will see a lil button type cicle when the door shuts it pushes that and the lights go off so look at each door one at a time find the button and push it hold to see if the light go off when you find the one thats not working right you can super glue a penny to the door where its supposed to hit the button and that will work and be alot cheaper than a 200 peice of rubber from part store Good Luck

Interior lights generally work to an earth, sounds like you have a trapped wire that's shorting to earth, start with the wiring to the door switches and work your way to the light

Why won't the interior lights on my milan go off so i can see to drive at night

Perhaps you have the headlight dimmer which adjust the dash illumination adjusted so far that it turned on the interior lights. Back it off a bit.
Or there may be a fault in one of the door switches making the light believe a door is open.

Replaced ac condensor and now the radio, clock, interior lights won't turn on

Radio and clock/interior lights are two different circuits. Check your fuse block to see if it has power.

1998 Ford Windstar Minivan: 1. I sometimes get an extended crank when trying to start engine after I've made a short trip. 2. My interior lights won't go out after I turn the engine off, so I...

YOU MAY HAVE A BAD DOOR AJAR SWITCH. HOWEVER, YO HAVE A TIMER THAT SHUTS OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AFTER 300 MINUTES. IT'S CALLED A BATTERY SAVER FEATURE. TEST IT OUT.

THE EXTENDED CRANK MAY BE A CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK, ALLOWING PRESSURE TO DROP WHEN YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF.
OR A BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ON THE ENGIEN FUEL RAIL.

TRY THIS TEST, TURN KEY TO "ON" POSITION, WAIT 5 SECONDS, SHUT OFF KEY FOR 30 SECONDS. TURN KEY ON, WAIT 5 SECONDS, THEN START ENGINE. IF IT STARTS RIGHT UP, YOU ARE LOSING FUEL PRESSURE WITH ENGINE OFF.

THIS BUILDS UP PRESSURE IF IT DROPPED DURING SHUT DOWN.
REPORT TEST RESULTS.

PLEAE RATE, THANKS
