Question about 2006 Mercedes-Benz ML-Class

1 Answer

Do you have further information on the recall? Such as a recall number? My '06 ML350 is now having this same problem (right brake light out/left brake light out, substitue bulb on). My shop cannot find a problem with lights/fuses and say they have "some memory" of a recall. MB dealership says there was no recall.

I never found any recall for it, so I got lot of cars same problem all the cars i found faulty light, common problem is burn contact, remove light and have a look inside contact plate you can see burn mark on it, clean the burn mark and put some led by soldering, if it's not work or no burn mark on bulb holder contact plate check wiring, if both way not found any fault possibly faulty rear SAM.

Why won't my MB ml350 brake lights work even after i install new bulbs?

Did you check the fuse? Either the fuse may be out, or the brake light swith on the brake pedal may be out or need adjusting. You should have 12 volts at the brake switch.

Brake lights on mb ml350 don't work even after installing new bulbs

The brake lamps on your Mercedes are computer-controlled. I would recommend scanning your computer network for possible fault codes.

I have a VW Jetta 2001. The EPC light is on, but the car does not fail. Also the BRAKE lights does not works. It is possible that one thing relates with other???

It needs a brake light switch. There were several recalls for this, you should call the dealer and have them check the VIN number for recalls. If there is a recall, they will replace it for free.
If not, it's easy to replace.
Remove 3 t20 torx head screws from the bottom of the dashboard near the pedals, then pull the black plastic cover down.
You can see the brake light switch from there, just follow the brake pedal up. It should have a 4 wire connector on it.
Twist it counterclockwise to remove,
When putting the new switch in, do not touch the brake pedal. Insert the new switch at a 45 degree angle to the left, then twist to the right until the connector is horizontal on the top.
Reassemble and you are done. The light might take a while to go out, but the brake lights will work immediately.

My 2007 ml350 brake light keeps going out but the bulb isnt blowing, whats going on here

Mine kept telling me both left and right brake lights needed replacing and I noticed that on one of the bulb socket contacts that touch the metal plates on the right brake light, the plastic behind it was melted creating a crevice therefore not making good contact. I added aluminum foil behind the contact (both circled in red in the pic) and the plastic and walla, saved 50 bucks worth of parts ;-). Fixing the right brake light fixed the left one too so tackle the right one first.8_10_2012_2_18_55_am.jpg

No brake lights and fuse keeps blowing.

see the end of this message for important information........................................
there were some models where that oil switch was causing fires .. even fatalities but i dont see that recall on your model ... it would be a sensible thing though to not replace that fuse until the problem is fixed .. as i recall the fires were casued by brake fluid leaking into a switch mounted in the braking system/speed control .. the switch had power on it all the time so it was even dangerous with the key off .. since i didn't see that recall for your model that doesn't mean a similar problem couldn't exist ..i would error on the side of safety .. here is a list of recalls for your explorer
WOW .. your car has been recalled for that fire condition .. i just missed it .. a little further look and here is what i found :................
if this is your case then its not safe to drive or even to put the car in or near your garage until repairs are made ..

2006 Chevy Trailblazer Rear Tail Light

Yes there was a recall on the brake lights, but I don't believe 06+ was included. NHTSA Campaign Number: 04V527000
Potential Number of Units Affected 871,473

My 03 was included and fixed, but my 06 is not. Hope that clarify's. More than likely it's the same darn problem, kind of like the master door switch recall (melting). Not all years were included in the recall, BUT ALL years suffer from this problem. Maybe have them check the problem that the 03's were having.
