Popping / Banging noise from air filter when turning sterring wheel

My guess would be the strut spring is broken. Also check the strut bearing plate and the lower ball joint.

2006 Ford Freestar Whistling Vacuum Sucking Sound

It very well could be a vac leak or a problem with the air filter box.
If you can make the sound happen sitting in park, have someone listen around the engine compartment with a section of heater hose while you operate the controls.

I have a 2006 Ford Freestar 48K miles, I just had an issue where my check engine light came on took it to AutoZone they put it on the machine it was a #2misfire got the spark plugs, wires and filter c

Find out if this air valve is considered an Emissions part. I would say it is not, but it depends on the effect on the emissions. If it is a covered part, the Emissions devices are Federally mandated to last a longer period of time and miles than the rest of the car.

The air valve is usually a different component than a throttle valve. The air valve is a part inside the air intake which changes the flow of air underneath the intake manifold. The throttle valve is a big flap on the top of the intake manifold which moves directly with the gas footpedal. The air valve operates automatically to change the air passages beneath the intake. The throttle valve changes the air opening from the air filter and is manually controlled by the footpeadal.

You might ask them if the engine has manifold "runners" and if it does, then that could be the problem. Ford had several problems with these runners. Also, I can't say if your design is a sandwich manifold, but the sandwich intake manifold had a gasket in the middle to join top and bottom and over time the gasket dissolved making a leak.

I would get a second opinion for this repair.

My ford freestar 04 has a very high pitch sound while driving. What causes this? I inspected brake pads and they seem like they have plenty of life left in them

Jack up each wheel and spin the wheel--do you hear the sound? If one wheel is making the sound, pull the wheel off and dismantle the brake assembly to make sure that the pads are worn evenly. Most pads have a wear warning tab that contacts the rotor when they wear enough causing said noise. A new pad will have a thickness of around 1/2 inch, so 1/8 inch could cause the tab to contact. Hope this helps!

Have a 2007 freestar thats has a popping noise out of the throttle body thats sounds like popcorn popping. doesn't affect it running though.

its your mass air flow sensor. the air filter housing does not seal well, wich causes dirt and turbulance to (MASF). So your vehicle will begin to run richer, making a popping noise. then the vehicle will start to jump while driving or even stall.

The little box is called the blend door actuator. It is an inexpensive fix, and you should be able to do it at home. There are a lot of online step by step guides to fix it! Good luck, i hope it helps, i am having the same issue!
