Cruise control switch is in the steering wheel if you have no back ground in mechanical i would not recommend attempting it calls for the airbag removal only a trained mechanic should do repair.

The speed control system is designed to maintain a selected vehicle speed between these two parameters.

Any of the deactivator switches operated by the brake or clutch pedal (vehicles fitted with manual transmission) will interrupt the speed control operation by switching the signal to the powertrain control module (PCM). This will allow the system to go into STANDBY mode. Operating the RESUME switch with the system in STANDBY mode will allow the vehicle to accelerate until the last set speed is resumed, providing the vehicle speed remains between the upper and lower operating limits of the speed control system.

Vehicle Speed Signal
The vehicle speed signal for the speed control system comes from the anti-lock control system (ABS) through the control area network (CAN).

Actuator Switches

ON Switch
When the ON switch is operated the speed control system is activated and providing the vehicle is travelling at a speed greater than 40km/h (25mile/h) , the speed control system will accept the speed inputs. The instrument cluster (IC) will inform the driver that the speed control has been activated.

OFF Switch
When the OFF switch is operated the speed control system is deactivated and the speed setting stored in the PCM memory will be erased. The speed control warning in the IC will be extinguished.

RESUME Switch
When the RESUME switch is operated with the system in STANDBY mode, providing the vehicle speed is above, 40km/h (25mile/h) the vehicle will accelerate until the last set speed is reached.

The RESUME switch will not function if:

  • The OFF switch has been operated.
  • The ignition switch has been turned to the OFF position.
  • The vehicle speed is below 40km/h (25mile/h).
  • There is a loss of drive between the driveline system and the road wheels.
  • The diagnostic system has detected a fault with the speed control system.
CANCEL Switch
When the CANCEL switch is operated with the vehicle speed control system active, the system will enter STANDBY mode.

SET Switch
When the SET switch is operated, providing the vehicle is travelling above 40km/h (25mile/h) the system allows the vehicle speed to be maintained to ±2km/h (1 mile/h) . When the vehicle speed control system is active, operating the SET switch will increase or decrease the vehicle speed respectively until the switch is released. If the SET switch is operated momentarily, the vehicle speed will increase or decrease in 2km/h (1 mile/h) increments.

Brake Pedal Position Primary Switch
If the brake pedal is operated when the speed control system is active, the PCM will receive a signal from the brake pedal position primary switch. This will put the system into STANDBY mode and allow the vehicle to return to a speed demanded by the throttle pedal position.

The brake pedal position primary switch is also used to operate the stop lamps.

Brake Pedal Position Secondary Switch
When the brake pedal is operated, if the speed control system is active and the brake pedal primary switch fails to operate, the PCM will receive a signal from the brake pedal position secondary switch. This will put the speed control system into STANDBY mode and allow the vehicle to return to a speed demanded by the throttle pedal.

Clutch Pedal Position Switch (vehicles fitted with manual transmission)
If the clutch pedal is operated when the speed control system is active, the PCM will receive a signal from the clutch pedal position (CPP) switch. This will put the system into STANDBY mode and allow the vehicle to return to a speed demanded by the throttle pedal.

Throttle Body
The throttle body moves the throttle plate to a position demanded by the throttle pedal or the speed control system.

Pontiac g6 cruise control does not work 95% of time

The most common issue here is the rotating contact under the steering wheel called the "Clockspring" has an open printed circuit ribbon. To change this requires the Airbag and steering wheel be taken off. You must disarm the steering wheel mounted Airbag before work starts, failure to do this can kill you. Read and follow the service manual instructions to the letter.

Cruise control will not engage 2010 xf jaguar

Possible causes. The button, wiring from the button to the PCM, PCM, wiring from the PCM to the cruise control module, cruise control module. Which in your case , the cruise module is the throttle body module. Drive by wire. Have the codes read.

Cruise control is inoperative

It can be faulty cruise control switch. If the switch is replaced, then it can be wiring issue or faulty cruise control board. But as the switch is replaced, get the voltage at the switch tested to confirm the switch is actually receiving voltage. If no voltage received at switch power supply wire then, apply external 12 volt power to the cruise control switch wire and then see if cruise control comes ON. If yes, then you know wiring is issue.

94 grand marquis cruise control does not work and air bag lite blinks on and off. Are these two problems associated together ?

Hello dogjasper.
Both of these issues will be caused by a part under the steering wheel called a "clockspring".
This part allows the transfer of electrical energy through a plastic spring with wire leads impregnated into it.
The plastic over time will crack and the wire along with it.
The clockspring carries current for both the air bag and your cruise control.
The steering wheel will need to be removed to access this part to be replaced.

Cruise control quit working, so where should I check. I would like to know about the wires and fuses and where to trace them down.

The 1994-95 Chrysler Minivans have four electrical panels/fuse boxes.:
  1. Fuse Block Panel (In Dash)
  2. Relay Block (In Dash)
  3. Micro Relay Block (In Dash)
  4. Power Distribution Center (Underhood)
Fuse block is located on left side of instrument panel, behind access door. Speed (cruise) control fuse is No. 14.
Note: If you have an airbag light on your dash litup, it might be something called a clockspring, which you'll have to take to the dealership/garage to get fixed. (Dealership is probably your best bet)
Hope this helps! :)

Most likely the clock spring assembly which the wires run through for airbag, cruise switches and horn button. Requires steering wheel removal to access part.
