Question about 2003 Jeep Liberty

1 Answer

I have a 2003 jeep Cherokee 2.5 td crd, 90,000 miles. The jeep starts with no trouble but after 1/2 miles the revs drop and it stops. No warning lights are displayed, it just dies. Then you have to wait 10 to 20 mins before it restarts and the whole cycle happens again. There is no fault found in diagnostic check and i have replaced air and fuel filters. I have also replaced cam and crank shaft position sensors but still the same problem. Plz help

Your catalitic converter could be clogging up. you can hit it and if it rattles it is bad, onther way to make sure is to remove an o2 sensor in front of it, if your problem goes away, then you know for sure it's the converter. what it is doing is restricting the air flow. One other thing I can think of is that sometimes coils can heat up and have those symtems too.

Both malfunction indicator light and electronic throttle control warning light is burning after I had my 2006 jeep crd overland serviced. The car is losing power wile driving. What do I need to solve

have the fault codes read and replace the faulty units. Ask the service person if they pressure cleaned the engine as that quite often causes problems with water getting into the connections and shorting out

My jeep CRD 2.7 started to misfire at low revs in the mornings but seemed ok when warm. the injector on cylinder 1 then started to leak and it went into limp mode, this was repaired.A few weeks later it as...

Austrian assembled Cherokee's have a 5 cylinder 2.7 Mercedes motor. These are a serious piece of kit and put the US product to shame. Sadly they still suffer from the usual reliability issues . The worst of which is the habit of blowing the injector seals . As the engine is a tight fit and removing the rear two injectors require dropping the motor, this can be a very expensive problem and can happen as early as 40000kms. Still a great machine!!

there is a technical service bulletin for the 98 Cherokee with the same problem that may fix yours. its number 08-15-99. it involves removing the cluster and cleaning the contacts and replacing one of the 2 connectors by soldering in a new one. this is the part number for he new connector 05016261AA but unless your good with solder in tight spaces you may want to take it in.

2003 jeep cherokee 2.8 CRD engine sqeeking noise

It could be that you got some water on your serpentine belt and that will cause it to squeak. Try buying a can of "belt dressing" from an auto store and spray it all over your belt and see if that will stop it. It's a cheap and easy thing to try before replacing expensive parts. Hope this works for you, let me know how it goes. Goodluck!

My 2002 Jeep GC has over 90,000 miles on it..warranty issue....

Unless you had warranty transferred, your probably out of luck, but to confirm, call a Chrysler/Jeep dealer, ask for service dept. and service writer or manager can tell you by your VIN#, so have it ready, as well as your current mileage.

1995 cherokee 2.5 td 150k miles will not start.

The oil pressure dropping to zero is common for cherokees. Replace the oil pressure sending unit and it will be good as new. Cracked exhaust manifolds are also common. Usually it will crack where the 2 pipes are welded into 1 pipe before it connects to the front pipe. There are lots of replacement headers out there to choose from. I just ordered one through quadratec.
