I had timing belt, head gasket and catalytic converter replaced one week ago and now service engine light is flashing and truck is shaking.

Have it scanned , was the computer cleared after all this work? And or have you driven this vehicle more than 40 miles. As it usually takes about 40 miles for the light to come back on. I would scan it and if there is more than one code. Check the first code clear and drive. As if one thing being wrong/bad part would make the computer to try and correct air/fuel mix and throw more codes.

misfiring can be from --low fuel pressure--faulty injectors--air/vacuum leaks---mechanical problems with the engine--plugs--- HT leads --moisture in the distributor cap--- cracks in the cap---coil/s---over heating---loose wiring ---HT leads touching each other ==just to name a few.

2000 GMC Sierra w/4.3 misfire on #2,4 cylinders

If it were low fuel pressure misfire , it wouldn't be cylinder specific misfire #2 , 4 it would be P0300 random misfire . I would think fuel injector's too . When hot they could be breaking down electrically , more resistance . If they tested electrically with a lab scope they would know for sure . Misfire from sticking fuel injector no fuel misfire

P0305 - Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected
P0306 - Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected

When a misfire occurs, engine speed will fluctuate. If the engine speed fluctuates enough to cause the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor signal to vary, The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Electronic Control Module (ECM) can determine that a misfire is occurring.

When is the code detected?
- Engine Cylinder #5 and #6 is Misfiring.

Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/loss of power
- Hard start
- Engine hesitation

Possible Causes:
- Improper spark plug at cylinder #5 and #6
- Insufficient compression at cylinder #5 and #6
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- The injector circuit is open or shorted at cylinder #5 and #6
- Fuel injector #5 and #6 may be faulty
- Intake air leak at cyli

Possible Solution:
- Perform Injector Service
- Replaced Spark Plug #5 and #6
- Replaced Injector #5 and #6
- Replaced Ignition Coil #5 and #6

Hope helps.

Hi, I have vw bora 2001 1.6 my car is misfiring when you put your foot down. I change the spurk plugs and coils still no help and the computer dont show nothing. Can anybody help me?

If the computer doesn't show anything and the car is misfiring, I would check for plugged fuel injectors or non functioning fuel injectors.

Listen with a stethoscope for clicking at the fuel injectors. It should sound rather loud and distinct with the stethoscope.

Use a noid light to attach to the detached harness connector that usually is connected to the fuel injector. It should pulse as the engine runs.

One can, also, disconnect the fuel injectors one by one until no change in engine idling is observed.

This would tell the technician which fuel injector is not firing.

Try fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank to clear out the fuel injectors.

Also, and Oxygen sensor that is going bad can cause erroneous information to be sent to the computer and cause a general misfire across all cylinders due to decreased fuel injection.

Good luck with this repair.

There may be no check engine light but that doesn't mean there isn't a code in the ECU. Especially with a misfire. I'd have the codes scanned and see what you got. The cannister issue isn't going to give you a misfire it will give you stalling and rough idle.
Lets see what ECU is saying. You can go to Autozone if you don't have a scanner they will scan it for free. If scanning turns out negative than have a cylinder leakage test done. This way we can determine which cylinder has the problem and what the problem is.
