Does not seam to be getting enough fuel at higher rpm and will not go above 4000 rpm in gear. it idles a little higher than normal (between 1200-1500 rpm) and had a large power loss. gas mileage has also dropped from 27 when i got it to about 15-18. what would cause this?

Clean up your fuel system and chek sparks

Pull off the EGR valve (back corner of the intake manifold) check to see if the pasages are plugged with carbon, if so, soak in warm water for an hour, clean out with a plastic stur stick.if you cannot push on the valve at the side and move it, leave the egr valve on an angle, and fill the upper chamber with MOOV IT let sit until upper chmaber is almost empty and lower has some in it (put a rag on the floor as it may leak out) shake dry and reinstall. Check vacuum lines also :-) if your vehicle starts runs, but will not get above 1800 RPM, or dies when in gear at warm temps, this is always the issue :-)

High Idle at Start Up

This sounds like the RPM may be a little high, but normal operation is called a "cold start routine". Like the old fashion Choke, the "cold start routine" is suppose to increase the RPM for several minutes and then decrease to running idle speed. This will engage in each "cold" start, but not on a warm engine. It is designed to do this.

Usually when an engine runs higher RPM than it is set for, it means extra air is entering the engine from somewhere. Using a spray water filled bottle, go around seams and also spray vacuum lines and the EGR pod while the engine is running. Any openings will draw in the water and affect RPM. Then you will have found the leak.

Now you can look up you exact engine on the Web and find out 2 things. If it has a 2 piece intake manifold and if it has intake Manifold runners. The 2 piece design often failed when the gasket holding the 2 halves started dissolving. The intake runners, could stick out of position and make RPM higher.

Now aside from these 2 items, you might get a Code showing that the engine is running lean. This would actually not be showing the lack of fuel, but the overabundance of air coming from the leaks.

WHILE REVVING ENGINE OF A 2002 SSEI AT 4000 RPM THE ENGINE BEGINS TO HESITATE AND WONT GO PAST 4000 RPMS. WHAT COULD THE CAUSE BE?

the computer is going to shut fuel to protect the engine thus limiting rpm, if there are no other problems with idle or throttle what its doing apears to be normal.

My 2002 buick rendezvous will not go above 4000 rpm's. The engine loses power and feels like it is misfiring.

I would check into replacing a fuel pressure regulator its easy to install and it usually under 10 bucks.

Soun like a problem with the Torque Converter or valve solanoids stucked. FIrst checl trans fluid level in good conditions (without brun smell odor and clear colors).

My dodge dakota it idles below 1000 rpms and it sounds like its about to stall. and if i rev it up and then let off it will stall instantly. when i am driving from first gear to second it goes up to 4000...

It is actually hard to say without actually seeing the vehicle, but the target speed for your engine idle is around 750 RPM. The stalling after revving kind of depends on how high you are revving it and whether the engine is at operating temperature or not. This may be normal. Then again, it could be that the Idle Air Control (IAC) is not working properly.

The shifting from first to second at 4000 RPM sounds like a completely separate problem. This could be due to low transmission fluid level, sticking shift control solenoids, or possibly even a malfunctioning Vehicle Speed Sensor.

If the Check Engine light is on, have that checked first.

Fuel filter is plugged and runs rough when its in gear but runs really well when in park or neutral can anyone help me

Its because its not clogged fully it allows enough fuel to reach engine to keep it idling. Replace fuel filter. Other wise bad fuel pump or timing is off

Ngine over fueling at all rpm, rough idle, heavy fuel consumption

if the car is stock i would replace your oxygen sensor. you may also need to clean out the MAF sensor.

Acceleration issue

Just a suggestion, but the EGR valve can cause that problem. If that checks ok, then I would have the catalytic converter checked for clogging. Both ideas would cause that specific problem. I sincerely hope that this can solve the problem, or at least head you in the right direction. Best wishes.
