Question about 1996 Toyota RAV4

1 Answer

When I shift into fifth gear, it will pop out. I will **** it firmer to the left and push up into gear a little assertively and it then stays in gear. What is the possible problem? Never had trouble staying in gear before.

You probably have worn parts in trans if continues you might have to have clutch inspected and or internally trans parts can be worn high mileage will cause parts to wear

In my 1995 Nissan 200sx ser it doesn't wanna go in

Not sure about popping out of reverse. But 5th gear pop out is a problem on these, nissan never had a recall, but they offer a slightly altered version of the 5th gear that is available. Go read up at nissanforums there's a lot there, pics and all, even a petition to Nissan for everyone who's had the same problem, me included.

Change shift linkage on 93 sentra

More than likely it's not the linkage. Sounds like the fourth to fifth synchronizer is very badly worn, which will cause the shifter to "pop out" of fifth gear.

I have an 88 for ranger that is stuck in first gear. the shifter moves around but will only go into fifth and reverse but the tranny still stays in first. i took the shift lever off and the little plastic...

sounds like it has jumped. take the rubber off the shifter has a ball with a cover push the ball down and turn it to the left now pull the shifter out look in side you will see 3 peaces one of then is not in line with the others put all 3 in the middle and put your shifter back in hope this helps

I have a 96 chevy s10 with an automatic transmission. It shifts hard through the first gear then when i push the gass real hard to get on the high the truck shifts out of gear and wonnt shift into the next...

sounds like to me its in high line, if you pop the hood you will see where the throttle cable hooks up, the transmission line should be right beside it. see if its unhooked, if not pull the slip out of it and adjust it forward or back a little, you will be able to tell the difference in thifts.. but sounds like the cable came unhooked, or broke.

My gear shift i stuck in park

You can get it out of park as a temporary fix by popping off the little cover to the left of the gearshift, then pushing down on the lever beneath the cover with a flathead screwdriver (or skinny key) and then shifting out of park.

I have a 96 f150 5.0 4x4 that wont shift into fifth gear

I had that problem once on a much older vehicle, I don't know if they build them the same way now but my problem was a bad sirclip. It was worn and would not hold the gear in place.

Hope this helps.

Tranny wont shift into fifth gear.

you could retry bleed clutch slave cylinder, should really replace these when replacing clutch if high mileage or it might be fifth gear ring gear broken or worn looking at gearbox strip or new gearbox i would try rebleeding clutch might have small airlock in it.
