I have run into this problem many times. The dealer has a software update that helps, but most often I find carbon buildup around the throttle blade. To clean this locate the air filter box. Follow the large plastic tube up to where it connects to the top of the motor and is secured with a hose clamp. Loosen the clamp and remove the tube from the engine. Behind the tube you will see a large gold or silver colored disk that pivots in the middle. You can open it with your fingers and then put a screw driver in it to prop it open. Once held open use a tooth brush and some solvent such as carb and choke cleaner etc. spray the cleaner on the brush and area surrounding the throttle blade and scrub away the black carbon buildup, and then wipe it away with a towel. clean all the way around the blade top and bottom, and with it open you can also scrub the back side of it. Clean up your mess and re-assemble, and see if that helps.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

The cause of this problem is definitely a faulty MAF (mass air flow) sensor. If the MAF is faulty the idle acts unusual like the engine's gonna die or something. Have the MAF sensor replaced and you'll be good.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

if the guage is unreliable and its the only one that is, may switch to an aftermarket separate oil pressure guage that mounts elsewhere and be done with the situation entirely..these run around 25 bucks and its time to install and it wont fail like electronic ones do...

Check for engine rpm signal, sounds like a cam/crank shaft position sensor issue.

My 2002 GMC Yukon Denali's fuel guage goes up and down sometimes. It is not always reading correctly. Is this a sensor problem or a fuel pump problem.

Most likely the rheostat on the float is bad. Unfortunately, this is part of the fuel pump and inside the fuel tank.

I have a 2004 Yukon Denali. The oil pressure gage decreases when I make a full stop. When the car is running, the oil pressure gage goes up very slowly. I am wondering if anyone has experienced similar...

Your oil pressure will flucuate with the rpm of your engine. It is generally higher also when the engine is cold as the oil is thicker. This is normal as long as your oil pressure stay in the normal operatting range.

The speedometer gauge and RPM gauge is not working. The speedometer gauge goes to the max while I am driving. The car itself seems to be running ok. Help! It is a Yukon Denali 2005.

I suspect that your sender is malfunctioning. Todays speedometers and RPM is sent from a sensor/sender near the drive shaft. A magnet on the drive shaft is sensed and the revolutions are converted to RPM and speed.

Oil gauge on 2003 yukon denali vortec 6000 engine is either all the way to 80 or to 0. can it be the sending unit and where is it located?

on these it is above the oil filter housing underneath. the best way to tell is to have a "wet guage" installed to test what the actuall pressure is. if the oil pressure is to spec then the problem more then likely is the motor in the speedomemeter unit itself. they do have a problem with these little motors. all the guages use the same style motors. cheers

Leaking radiator fluid from fan pulley? 2004 GMC Yukon Denali. How can i fix this?

you need to replace your water pump. The pulley you speak of is on the water pump, and when the seal goes out, it leaks in that specific spot.

This model always this problem, usually after about 90,000 miles and the other instruments will eventually follow. There are companies that will repair this for you just use google (instrumentclusters.com) to find them. I was charged 185.00 for the repair... GM wanted over 500.00!
