Air conditioning compressor on my 98 Chevy blazer won't engage. The AC is fully charged. The compressor

the compressor isn't getting the pressure for the clutc to maintain after disengaging the short by removing paperclip. check fuse, relay, and the low/ high pressure lines. if the compreeor doesn't since the correct amount of gas charge and/ or receives it the clutch wont engage not sure about a weak compressor if it may be a contributor. will check back later short on time. I just had mine fixed 2001 chevy 4wd. it was the relay and charge.

1999 acura cl wont;; hold a/c charge. have to put 134 in it

if it did not have r134 gas before DO NOT put r134 gas in now. The r134 runs at a much higher pressure and you need new condenser/evaporator and compressor to compensate for the high pressures generated. have an A/C technician explain it to you

How do i locate the failing part for ac not working

you need to try to charge the system with r-134 make sure that the r-134 has die in it. while you are at the parts store get the test kit that has glasses and a uv light. run the car for about 15 min after charging the ac system. shut off the vehicle and start searching for the leak with the glasses and the light. with all that being said i am telling you this only after you charge the ac and the compressor comes on. if the compressor does not come on after you charge the system replace the compressor, reciver dryer, and orifice tube

When my A/C is turned on it sounds as if the compressor is running for 5 seconds and then it shuts off. This continues repeating. I have no cool air. Is this possibly a bad compressor or compressor clutch?

It is certainly a possibility but the first thing to check is if the system is low on Freon. Your vehicle is old enough that it might still use R-22 which would be bad as that is not available for the do it yourself type person. If it is 134A then you can get a refill kit at Walmart for $14. It comes with a can of coolant with a connector Hose and Gauge attached so you don't over charge the system.

I have a 1995 chevy camaro z-28 with the lt-1 350 engine. How do i get the compressor to engage so i can install freon?

It is illegal to dispense freon, unless you are licensed; however, if the system has been converted to R-134 then:
1. Purchase the refrigerant from AutoZone and "borrow" the vacuum pump and the manifold (guages) free.
2. Evacuate the system (read directions) and verify that the vacuum will hold.
3. Charge system through th emanifold.
4. The compressor will start when enough refrigerant pressure is present.

What do I need to replace to convert my ac to r134a on a 88 chevy s-10 blazer

need to have the a/c system evacuated and flushed out with the appropriate cleaner.Replace the orifice tube and drier, and purchase a retrofit kit at any parts house. Recharge system with appropriate amount of oil charge and freon. It will take less R134a than it did R12.

A/c will not work . pump will not engage

The system is likley low on gas, causing the low pressure switch to dis-able the compressor clutch.
Check the low gas pressure switch by briefly looping the switch out of circuit.
If the compressor clutch now engages normally it confirms low system gas (Don't run for long like that or it will ruin the compressor).
Get the system re-gassed and checked for leaks.
