Hi. I think I may need a new battery for my 2005 Pontiac Sunfire. What size battery does it take? I've been checking online, but I need to know the "group size."

Your 2005 Pontiac Sunfire battery group number is 75.

Check the Part Numbers of these batteries for your car - they all begin with "75."

Three batteries that fit your car are found at:
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/2005-Pontiac-Sunfire/Battery/_/N-jmqtpZacy27

The "Group Number" refers to the dimensions of the battery - at battery that's too big wouldn't fit into
the battery compartment of the car.

Im getting a new battery put in my 2001 chevy impala and i need to know what size engine it come with?

If you open the hood it will either say 3.4 (3400) on the intake plenum or 3.8 (3800 series II) on the plastic engine cover.

There will also be an emissions sticker under the hood or on the upper radiator support or on the strut tower. It will list the year of the car and the engine size.

You can also tell by the 8th digit of the VIN #. If its E its a 3.4 liter. If its 1 or K its a 3.8 liter.

After all of that it takes the same battery whether or not it has the 3.4 or 3.8 liter. Most battery manufacturers will list it as a group 78 battery. It will also say on the top of the battery what the part number is.

I believe I need to replace the battery in my 2000 Sable, but need to know which battery to buy. I had the car jumped on Saturday, but it would not start yesterday. My husband, who is out of town, said...

on the old battery there will be a number like 36R-60. 36 is the group number or part number of the battery, R means reverse terminal, and 60 is the months the battery is warrantied for or expected to last.

Battery Needs

Friend, go to the Auto Parts store in your community, tell them you need a battery for your 97 Buick LeSabre. They will ask you if you want an economy, standard, premium or extended service. There is probably a price range of $30.00 between the cheap battery and the best battery ... how much do you want to spend on your 13 year old car? I'm guessing the prices will run from $60.00 to $90.00 <>. You will probably have to install for that price. Add $30.00 to have it done. Remember too, you will probably have to return the old battery for the get the core charge back.

CCA = Cold Cranking Amp (the more amps the battery can provide, generally speaking the better the battery)

The group number - normally there is only one group number that will fit. The reality of that is you don't care as long as it fits in the hole and the posts are in the proper position to reach your cables.

So, rely on the counter person to provide you with the proper battery. If you tell them what group or CCA you want, and it is not correct, well you may be stuck. So - you ask them to provide the proper battery to start with.

the GROUP number should be on the top or side of battery as well as the CCA (cold cranking amps) you want to buy a battery that has at least the same or more CCAs. if you cant find the right size battery any auto parts store should be able to look it up in a catalog.the GROUP # determines the height, width, and overall size and terminal locations.some common group sizes are 24,24f,75,78,58R etc.hope this helps you.

Battery

You can buy a battery at any reputable auto parts store- even Wal Mart carries batteries.

They should have a battery that will fit your truck.

If your battery is the original, it should have a part number like 9999MP-NB24F... I can't remember right off the top of my head which group size the Frontier takes. It's either a 24 or 35, I believe (which would be the NB"XX"?... the letter designation may be different also.

If you find that number (let's just say it's a 24), you can get any Group 24 battery. The group number indicates specific exterior dimensions of the case. You should look the battery up for the application.
