Question about 2002 Pontiac Grand Am

2 Answers

I have a 2000 Ponitac Grand Am but the motor in the car is a 2002. I have had the car for a couple of days and now the oil is leaking rather bad, now I am no car expert but my husband and I were thinking it was the oil pan and gasket. When my husband put a quart of oil in the car and he checked the dipstick, there was absoutely no oil reading on the stick. Then I got under the car and noticed that it was dripping the oil. My husband says that from what he can see the front of oil pan is wet. Now I was wondering if you might think that the cars problem is the oil pan and gasket or is there something else that could be wrong that we are not considering? Is this car know for oil leaking problems? Thanks Cammella Kinchens

U might check that the oil filter gasket did not slip when it was put on and have the oil running down over the pan . this car is not known to have oil leak problems.if i am thinking right it has a 3.4 liter and they are known (like there cousin the 3.1 )to leak anti-freeze from the intake gasket.

The car is known for when the timing chain tensioner's wear out, the timing chain will wear rub and wear a hole in the timing cover which will leak down the side of the cover and will appear to be leaking from the front seal on the oil pan.

It should be that that side is leaking and a welder should work on it by welding it

''2000 dodge grand caravan oil leak at crankcase how do i fix it''

How bad does it leak? Most cars eventually leak some. Adding oil now and then is cheaper than fixing a leak if its not too bad.
