SOURCE: 1992 Ford Taurus with a 3.8l V6 the cooling fan

The Taurus has Two temp sensors. One for the dash, which is isolated, then one for the PCM, it also controls when the fan relay should actuate. Its a 2 wire sensor, just above the thermostat. If you remove the harness from that sensor, and the cooling fan comes on, at any temp, (should take 5- 10 seconds) then thats your fault.

Iam no mech but is it hard 2 change the motor n transmission mounts in a 96 ford thunderbird 3.8 engine if it is whats the going price 2 do so i dont get taken

It is fairly easy to do if you have a lift, but it is possible to do on the ground with a jack and jack stands. You will need to be able to unbolt both sides of the mount and support the engine with the jack while you replace the mounts. If you download the autozone app to a smart pone or tablet it will give you a repair estimate calculator,

How to chg alternator on 2002 ford taurus 24v dohc 3.0

ctionsThings You'll Need
  • Flywheel holding tool
  • New alternator
  • Socket wrench set
  • Torque wrench
    • 1Determine which alternator your Ford Taurus will need. You'll want to be sure the new alternator is compatible with your Taurus's engine. Models made from 1986 to 1991 have a 2.5 L HSC, 3.0 L Vulcan or 3.8 L engine. The 2.5 L engine was dropped for 1992 to 1995 models, and post-1995 models will have a 3.0 L engine.
    • 2Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Release the tension on the accessory drive belt so that you can remove the drive belt from the pulley.
    • 3Take off the mounting bolt on the right side of the alternator with a socket wrench and remove the bracket for the power steering hose. Remove the mounting bolts on top of the alternator, the front passenger wheel and tire assembly and the front fender splash shield. Remove the alternator splash shield with a socket wrench and take off the inspection cover for the torque converter.
    • 4Mount a tool to hold the flywheel so you can remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley. Lower the alternator so you can unplug its electrical connections. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor and Oxygen sensor connector. Remove the lower alternator mounting bolt and B+ connector nut to remove the alternator.
    • 5Install the new alternator assembly by reversing the above procedure. Use a torque wrench to tighten the B+ connector nut to 71 in. lbs. and the lower alternator bolt to 18 foot pounds. Torque the crankshaft pulley bolt to 74. foot pounds, the upper alternator bolts to 18 foot pounds and the nut for the power steering hose bracket to 13 foot pounds.

I need to replace the existing starter in my 2003 Ford Taurus wagon. I know that I have to jack the car up in order to remove the old starter. What I don't know, is how many bolts need to be removed...

Because of the Variety of mounting methods there are 2 to 4 bolts that should be visible as you look at the starter itself. Not counting the wiring connections. If this a sideways mounted motor with the Starter mounted on the front of the motor there will be 2 bolts holding it in place. If the motor is mounted regularly with the transmission extending under the vehicle the starter in on the rear of the motor near the firewall and will have up to 4 bolts holding it in place but most likely no more than 3. I would recommend getting a Haynes repair manual on the vehicle for more detailed instruction on removal and installation. This manual or a Chilton's manual are both available at the major Auto Parts stores and are fairly inexpensive.

Center main mototr mount bolt is missing, need size of bolt so I can replace it myself.

More than likely the mount is bad and you will have to buy the bolt from the dealer or a fabricating shop that sells metric bolts, or go to a junk yard to get a replacement for same car. pull the nut off the other side and measure from the top of the bolt to the end of the threads then go buy one at the store using the nut as your size guide and thread pitch and get a grade 8 bolt to replace it with.

Engine mount replacement

There are two liquid filled and a trans mount. You need to found out which way the motor jumps if it jumps back to the fire wall I would change the two liquid fill. They are located looking at the engine on the pulley side left and right bolted to A-frame you can change one at a time. Unbolt one and jack motor with a floor jack and board just lift enough to drop it in and out. It's tough I know I did it before but it can be done. And do the same for the other. Trans mounted one never needs replaced. Just make sure the mounts are bad cause front wheel drive motors usally move but if its moving more than 2"-4" then replace them.

My right subframe would go up when gas is pushed and it shifted hard and i just got a rebuild trns done i changed bot front and back motor mount it helped a lil but my subframe still moves up when i put it...

1. subframe mounts.
2. subframe bolts or nut welded to body broken
3. Body rotted out.
Ford has a bulliten and a retrofit kit to fix this issue. Its a pain in the *** you need to pull up the carpet and drill holes and stuff, I did one way back in the day. Took like 2-3 hours but fixed it. I live in minnesota the road salt eats cars up something fierce!!
