You probably have a bad brake light switch. The switch is located under the dash, mounted to the arm of the brake pedal. There is also a wire harness connected to the switch - try unplugging that harness, then check if the brake lights are off. If so, replace the switch.

the switch is ok. do u know where the relay in the hatch is?

Typically, relays are not placed in the back of the vehicle. It should be either under the dash or the hood - however, I do not know the specifics of your vehicle. You should be able to call a Dealer who could email or print out a schematic for you, detailing precisely where that elusive relay is.Best of luck in this!!

Why r my tail lights staying on my 1993 gmc Sierra

Are you sure it is the tail lights and not the brake lights? If the park lights are staying on, the front should be on as well in most cases. If it is the brake lights staying on, suspect a faulty brake light switch located at the brake pedal

Abs light stays on and brake light on 98 durango

The regular brake warning light is for the parking brake being applied or the brake fluid is low. You would need to get the abs system scanned for trouble codes to proceed.

We have an Audi TT and the brake lights stay on after you turn the car off. Also noted that a passing car informed us that the brake lights stay on while driving as well. Could this possible be a switch...

If all the brake lights stay on then the brake light switch is the first thing to check. It cod also be dagger wiring to the switch or it may just be loose and/or out of place.

Check your brake switch as it could be faulty hence causing a close circuit which in turn causes the brake light to stay on.It is normally located at the top of the brake pedal.Hope this helps.
