Have you checked the fluid level? if not then need to.

If fluid level is full and you have not just done work on system so air could be trapped then problem is a p/s pump going out

do you know how much i ,may be looking at for a pump and install/

The pump will vary as to who you buy from. Ballpark i would say around $150 for pump and it shows 2.0 hrs labor that will depend on how much a shop charges per hour we ar $87.00hr so guesstimate would be about $350 using a pump from a parts store and not factory

It's either one of your power steering line's are leaking or you are losing fluid from the steering box which could be the pitman arm seal. If your not losing fluid and it's whinning, it could be the power steering pump is bad.

You have a leak in the power steering system. It should be easy to find just look for where the fluid is dropping onto the ground below the vehicle while parked, then look under the vehicle to see where the leak is coming from. Make repairs as needed.

New power steering pump put in, lines bleed, and still having whinning noise. Is there another part with the power steering pump we can check?

are you sure the noise is comming from pump and not the belt tension pulley right next to it ?

I use a wiffle ball bat with both end caps cut off (hollow tube) held to my ear to help localize noises on running engines I have even found tricky intake vac leaks with that trick

My 2004 Acura MDX is making a whinning noise. we

the fluid could be burnt and the filter may need to change. You would aslo need to check the air in your tires to see if one of the front tires is low on air, then the next thing would be to check to see if a brake caliper is sticking.

My 2001 celica vvti power steering whins when cold

This could be caused by dirty or over-aged power steering fluid, it's not flowing enough when the engine is cold (so the fluid) lack of enough fluid flowing through power steering pump can cause the power steering pump to start whining. Change the fluid and you should be good. Hope it helps and please don't forget to rate the answer if it was helpful, it helps me, thanks!
