Does your Buick have an airbag in it on the drivers side? If not i can walk you through step by step. If it does i would not recommend doing it your self.

yes it does. there is something in the car draining the battery, one mechanic said it was the ignition switch so we changed that & now when the car is running (which it doesn't run now because the battery is dead from whatever is draining it) & you go to put the car into reverse it shuts all power off, if you very quickly take the gear shift & put it into drive the car will stay running but not reverse. my husband said it's like the security system thinks the car is being hotwired & stolen! It's my only family car & I so need it fixed! Thanks!

The starter motor continues to run when the car is running on a 1999 Buick century

The Starter motor can keep running because of a number of things. It receives its power from the large contacts (switch) in the starter solenoid. WHen engaged, this starter sol. allows high current 12 volts to run the starter motor.
A number of things can cause the starter solenoid to stay engaged:
A) stuck starter solenoid mechanicals. probably not the cause
B) more likely a defective start position on the ignition switch in the ignition switch
C) possibly a gummed up ignition key tumbler
I would start troubleshooting with a schematic. Make your own or purchase a service manual. IF you pull off the wire from the switch (in the center console) which actuates the starter solenoid, and the starter motor continues to run, then its not the switch or the key tumbler. its the solenoid.
Troubleshooting is the logical process of elimination.

Will crankshaft sensor make 2003 Buick century with 3100 (3.1) engine not crank?

Crank sensor only tells the ignition modual what position the motor is in. If it's not cranking you may have a starter solenoid or starter going bad, bad battery, or other electrical issue, could even be a bad ignition switch.

1994 Buick Century Not Turning Over

Can position sensor, maybe, or it might be called a pick-up coil. This sensor is needed along with crank position sensor for computer to determine spark timing.
When you get it started, and if you still have the up and down idle, check for an intake manifold leak.

How do you time a 1994 buick century 3100

Hello Tattozle.
There are no provisions for setting ignition timing.
It is all done by the powertrain control module.
Your Buick has a crankshaft position sensor that accurately is able to give the information to the PCM.
Hope this helps you along.
