The only way to fix it, is to find the leak, and repair it. Hoses? the intake manifolds are famous for cracking behind the alternator if it has a plastic intake manifold. But you are the one that has the car, so You have to find out where the leak is.

Car run hot what is the problem

First thing to check is probably a stuck thermostat. Then the water pump. Head leak. The price and ease of most thermostats is usually replaced first, then further troubleshooting if needed.

95 Lincoln Town car A/C is blowing only hot air.

You can try stop leak, but don't expect great results. If the leak is big enough to lose more than 8 oz in a few days, you have a major leak.
And using more than one can of stop leak can cause problems in the system.

1998 lincoln town car when i turn the temp to 90 it still wont get hot have changed the thermostat, and flushed heater core but it still won't get hot the AC works great just don't have no heater...

Just a stab at it................see if there's a vacuum or electric operated valve in the heater hose lines.Trace it out.The heater hose goes from the thermostat area at intake manifold thru the heater core, and back to water pump area. don-ohio

I have a 2003 lincoln ls it keeps running hot I replaced thermostat, radiator cap, water pump, and had lines drained. After replacing water pump and thermostat car ran fine for a month I went and got an ol...

Suspect you have a loose clamp on a radiator hose or the oil change guy made something leak. There is a tool which is similar to a a bicycle pump in that it pressurizes the water system and your engine does not have to run or be hot to test. Some major auto parts stores may have a loaner.

Its going to stay hot and lose pressure until you fix the leak.

Why is my car Running hot

I assume you have checked the cooling system to ensure that first that it is full and second that there are no leaks. Those pesky little bypass hoses tend to go hard and split if they are over 5 years old, allowing coolant loss. The over heating could also be caused by a clogged radiator or a faulty thermostat or water pump.

Overheats after running awhile

Hi the most common cause of over heating is going to be either the rad fan has packed up but you should hear this when the engine gets hot if the fan is electronic and it dont start up then the chances are you need to replace the temp switch for the rad.
now the next likely cause will be the thermostat this is going to be the most likely cause as long as the fan is working.

But you need to beware that if the fan is working and the thermostat is fine then it could be that your water pump needs replacing due to fault or even leaking so check for any water leaks.

failing any of those being at fault the only other problem is going to be the head gasket but this would be last resort and the hardest job to get fixed.

you can usually check the thermostat by 2 ways the first is to get the engine hot and then switch the heater on it hottest setting then if you dont get any hot air coming out then this would be a sign the thermostat has gone, how ever if you do get heat then this could still mean the thermostat could have stuck only slightly open, so the only real way of testing it would be to take the thermostat out and have a look at it in its closed possition then boil some water and place the thermostat into the water for about 30sec to 1min then take it out and have a look to see if it has opened up, if it has then put it back in and start looking at things like water pump or water leak.
let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Car runs hot while idling, then cools down when you start driving. Have to add antifreeze but cant tell where it is leaking. could it be a heater valve busted or is it possibly the water pump?

It`s easy to see if the water pump is working just drain some of the fluid out of the radiator and look inside while vehicle is running NOTE due this only when vehicle is cold.
Know if it`s not flowing after it starts to warm up then either the thermostat is stuck closed or the water pump is bad i would start with the thermostat if i where you the other job is a lot harder and more expensive
Also the fluid disappearance could be caused by the fluid boiling out when it gets hot one last note check pressure cap on radiator for wear or cracks if bad replace hope this helped you.
