Yes I believe this is an aftermarket device as it does not feature in my manual. Will take advise and look to remove it.

    Thank you

I believe this is an aftermarket device installed like a security system. this is an american corolla? if so have not seen any factory socket like you speak of but plenty of theft devices installed aftermarket or done at dealer. if this is case you can just remove it and reconnect the starter wire under dash you will see it cut and spliced into this unit.

2001 chevy cavalier lost key can I replace the ignition switch without a key?

the original key is coded to your car.
So changing the barrel to have a new key wont help and ill tell you why.
Inside the original key is a transponder chip that is programmed to the cars immobiliser unit.
Attached to the ignition barrel is whats called a reader coil and its job is to read the keys chip when inserted in the barrel to deactivate the immobiliser so that the car will start.
What you need to do is contact a good knowlegable locksmith to provide a new key and code it to your car

I have toyota camry 1995 with toyota security light on the dashboard.I have toyota fitted security features but with the light on i cannot start the engine as it immobilises.I have no remote key or unit in...

there maybe a fault with the drivers door. if it used to be able to start before without the fob. then there would be a fault with the lock. only other way is to get the pass code from toyota but they may not have it as it is a 1995. the only other way is to have the immobiliser sent off to a company that can retrieve the code from the unit and make a new fob for it. can cost a lot. but if you change anything you still need the pass code unless you get another ecu immobiliser alarm and fob from another car. then it should all work then. but make sure it is a set.

HELP i have a 2000 model hyundai lantra sportswagon which is fitted with an immobiliser and both remotes are broken. How can i bypass the immobiliser???

theres a socket you can use to reset the immobilizer. follow the steering shaft down, then under the dash, you will find the socket. plug the key switch with the button facing away from you, while the ignition is switched on.I'm pretty sure it doesnt matter if the remote is broken or not, as it just bridges the circuit, allowing you to start the car. hope this helps..

Flat battery caused immobiliser problems

1-insert and remove key from ignition two times

2-close and open driver door two times

3-insert and remove key once from ign.

4-close and open drvr door twice

5-insert key into ign.,then close driver door

6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice this is rewrite mode, have all remotes to reprogram it will clear any lost remotes.

7-remove key from ignition, the door locks should cycle twice.if not start over.it may take a few tries.

8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second

9-release,and press lock on remote, the door locks will cycle confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have, steps 8 and 9.if only one in possession, you are done. To end mode open door or insert key into ignition.

You'll need to follow the steps with no more than a 1-2 second delay between each step.. hope it works

Passat - key won't turn in ignition and steering wheel seems to be locked. Indicators flash on dashboard when key is inserted.

Your immobiliser is playing up, Easiest way would be tio run diagnostics, so you could find out what exactly causes imobiliser's malfunction.

Drop a line if you need more details

Best of luck
