I have a 2002 chevy surburban and it makes a whining noise.

the noise happens running down the road or parked? Is the car a four wheel drive? The alteanator can go bad and whine, the wheel bearings can go bad and whine, windows not fitting right can make a whine The altenator will stop whining if it's unplugged, if this fixes it the battery and the altenater need tested and a bad battery can make the altenator whine and it still be OK. Don't run the engine with the battery disconnected as this can blow alot of expensive stuff and the altenator.

2002 ford windstar check charging system light stays on when i replaced the altenator and battery

Check all fuses, both inside and outside. Use a volt meter to check the output of the alt., by setting the meter to D/C/ volts, put the black wire on battery GROUND and the red wire on the big terminal of the alt.,,, which the wire is held on with a nut and washer, or a lock nut.If your reading is around 12.0 - 12.6,,, try another alt....
If the reading is 13.8 - 14.6 ,, you have a problem between the alt and the battery.
Hope this helps.

2002 ford windstar states check charging system changed altenator and battery what else could be wrong

voltage sensing circuit could have a problem, if the sensor is bad that senses the voltage coming from the alternator or battery it will set this warning off, follow the wires from the battery and alternator untill you find what looks like a little module or a clamp around either the negative or positive battery wire or alternator wire. see if the vehicle reacts when the module or sensor is moved around a bit

My 2002 Ford Windstar has been stalling or not starting at all ever since I started using the A/C this summer. My mechanic is stumped. Help!

this could be a couple of things, the A/C is a big drain on the battery and so unless you have a really good one that could cause problems also the dynamo or we in uk call it the altenator which boosts power from the battery could be faulty and my last inkling is that it could be your A/C may need recharged normally only a dealer can do this and its expensive sorry cant be anymore help

Changing the altenator

Have you taken the belt off yet.
The belt is tensioned with a pulley which is spring loaded. Look for a small pulley wheel about 2 inches in diameter. Put a spanner on the nut and move it to loosen the belt. The alternator is a fixed one which has no adjusting arm. Just bolts to secure it.
Good Luck
