Most time its just a seal around the injector, remove it and have it checked, if good replace seals

2008 Chevy cobalt 2.2 l 133,324 miles. It just started to hesitate to start and smells like raw gas. What could it be?

Hi Jesse, IM AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

Jesse, if you are smelling "Raw Gas" then this is a sign of a gas leak or an injector stuck open flooding the system.
Start the engine and check for fuel leaking from the injectors sometimes and injector will leak externally. Also check for fuel leaks around the fuel line and fuel rail, also check under the vehicle, the fuel lie, tank, filler tube. The Internal Injector leak can only be checked after removal of the fuel rail (engine off). With the fuel rail in your hand have someone turn the key on (engine off) it should be a spray like pattern from each injector and no drips after the spray. NOTE: This should be checked only after there were no other issues found with the first issues I talked about. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website

I have a 95 Nissan maxima and smoke and gas coming out my tail pipe I was told that it was my was fuel regulator all I smell is gas when i my start car can some body plz help me find the problem plz

It would be unlikely gas is coming out of the tailpipe. The fuel regulator can leak internally and externally. If there is an internal leak with the regulator, the vehicle will be overfueled and will run poorly if at all with black smoke out the tailpipe and most likely the check engine light on/flashing. You may experience a fuel smell. If the regulator is leaking external, there will be a definate fuel smell. You may also have an injector or injector seal leaking as well. Depending on the engine size 4 or 6 cyl, it can be hard to spot an injector leak. However, a fuel p;ressure regulator can easily be located and checked for a fuel leak.

Leaking fuel at injector

Leaking fuel at the injector is too risky, your going to have to replace the injector or injectors. They come out by the removale of the fuel rail. Here you need to be careful cause you can cause other injector to crack and make unnecessary expense.

Changed fuel lines on 1992 f 250 7.3 liter idi was old slow leak . now all m,y injectors are leaking right above big nut on the injectors looks as if its coming up from bottom of injectors ... real crazy...

sounds like you're gettting alot of fuel pressure now for sure, you may have to pull those injectors and replace the 'o' rings around them, they may have been bad all along and not enough fuel pressure to make them leak.when you replaced those fuel lines did you pull on the injector rack at all? if you did, the solution is simple, push the fuel rack back down to reseat those injector 'o' rings. that should solve it. otherwise your stuck pulling that fuel rack anyway so i would try pushing that rack down either way. it may seal the injectors back up. hope this helps and thank you for choosing oncallmech

I have fuel leaking from the fuel rail at the 2nd injector from the front. The leak seems to be coming from where the metal of the fuel rail conects to the plastic....

Maybe an O-ring is leaking. Try a new injector that comes with an o-ring to be sure it's not the injector itself.

When you turn the key on excessive fuel flows into the air intake. its a 1989 6 cylinder 3.1 fuel injected

You could have either an injector that is stuck open or a fuel pressure regulator that has developed a leak. A leaky injector will usually only leak fuel into one cylinder as it is located just above the intake valve in the lower part of the intake while a leaky fuel pressure regulator will leak fuel into the front end of the intake manifold [behind the throttle plates] and the fuel will acuumulate throughout the upper intake plenum. When a fuel pressure regulator develops a leak the fuel that is escaping from it flows through the small 1/8" diameter plastic vacuum line which goes from the top of the regulator to the intake manifold. Even a trace of fuel in this line means the regulator is bad. I've seen both leak items leak but probably replace 10 regulators leak for every one injector. Good luck, hope you find your problem!

I have a gas leak under my hood. We replaced a part to try and stop the leak but it did not work. I dont know the name of the part. What else could it be?

your gonna have to find the leak source.. possibilties are fuel rail input and output seals.. fuel injector seals, fuel injector rails and fuel injectors. your gonna have to check them all and find the leak.
