Please Help!!! Replaced ECM and truck immediately dies

Have checked the idle air control valve. If stuck closed it will not allow air to bypass the throttle therefore it will start and stall.

Replaced egr valve assembly now dies when rpms drop

I guess if the egr isn't closing and is stuck open you could have these symptoms it would also have random cylinder misfires, stalling, rough idle, hard brake pedal... And would run ok at higher rpm. EGR doesn't work at idle so if it was staying open could cause you issues. The other thing that may be an issue as you come to an idle is the idle air control valve (IAC). The iac allows air to bypass the throttle plate upon start up declaration and at idle since the throttle plate is close at these particular time. If it happens to be stuck shut then no air would by pass the throttle and there wouldn't be air for combustion to occur and maintain engine running smoothly. Some thing to look at.

I have a 1995 lincoln towncar. It runs great until it warms up it. Then it starts to sputter and stall, I have done plugs wires and coil packs to fix a skip in the motor. That worked, now I have the new...

Try replacing your Idle Air Control valve. I am a former Ford tech and have two LTC's a 94 and a 96. I have had to do this job on both. When they get up in miles, the IAC valve gets carboned up and can't adjust the air/fuel intake mixture under load. If you still have a stalling issue after that, then you will probably have to replace the EGR valve as well. But it is very important that you start the engine with the old EGR valve removed so you can blow any carbon balls out of the EGR passage before installing the new EGR valve. Otherwise you will just end up plugging and ruining the new EGR valve and have the same stalling issue. Good luck!

Engine light came on in my dodge caravan sxt 3.3L 6cyl. Code P0404. It seems to be running fine, how do I check the EGR valve myself? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

To check the egr yourself you will need a hand held vacuum pump. To perform the test start the van and let it warm-up, then remove the top vacuum hose from egr valve and attach hand vacuum pump to egr valve. Apply about 5 in-hg vacuum to the egr valve. With the engine at idle speed and vacuum applyed the engine idle speed will drop or stall. If not then the egr valve is faulty and will need to be replaced. If the engine didi change idle speed and or stalled the egr valve is good. Hope this will help you.

It keeps stalling and won't keep running after the

Check the egr valve by located it and the vacuum hose connected to it. pull of the hose and check it for wear like cracks or hardening of the rubber. If it looks ok, reconnect it to the egr and start the engine while it is cold and with the engine idling, remove the hose from egr valve. If the engine sputters and then dies, pull off the vacuum hose one more time and try to start the car. If it runs fine with the hose disconnected, replace the egr valve.
