Been there done that, look up code reading for obd 2, on the internet, it will tell you what pins to short on the plug to get the codes, good luck

Runs great but sometimes after a hour starts missing and shuts off.

Not positive but sounds like coil pack. There is a liquid coolant in em and if it gets a crack in it then it over heats easy. So after it gets hot it stops working. Then it cools back down and works right. Just basing this on other cars I have worked on. Some have two wires per coil. When it starts running bad pull one of the wires off and seee if it runs the same or worse. And if it is the coil you should be able to trace down the one that is bad. Just trying to help.

Hi I was driving my pt down rd and all of a sudden it started to miss real bad and about 20 sec later if that .. the engine light came on.. its still missing real bad and lights staying on.. any ideas as...

you can start by going to Advance Auto they will scan it for free and tell you what the code is and that will give you a good starting point but in my dealings with the PT they are hard on plugs and wires so a good old fashion tune up is probably all it needs. I hope this helps you.

Bad fuel pump diagnosis? small flutter in engine got worse within 20 min of driving and had to stop

If the engine wants to stall as you accelerate, and sometimes cuts out at highway speeds,...Its the fuel pump,If it misses at idle, and while driving, its the fuel filter,Have the fuel presure checked,or change the fuel filter, when you change the fuel pump, also ghange the fuel filter.

check the fuel pressure when it is idling for about the time it takes to die see if it drops.most likely gonna need a fuel pump

I have an 05 cavilier. while car is @ an idle it misses real bad and acts like it wants to die on me.

sounds like a coil problem hard to say though. first try "with the engine off" inspect the plugs i have came across a few with a split in the ceramic.
look at you plug wires if you see any black on the coating or on either boot "connects to coil or plug" inside or out then the wire is bad. also check to see if there is a resistance on each wire with a multi meter if there is none or infinity then the wire is broke causing it to miss
the last thing you can do is unplug each wire one at a time with the engine off . if the engine runs worse then its not caused by the wire you unpluged. if it stays roughly the same then that is the problem

Stalling and not starting 89 buick century

First thing, is your chk. engine light on? if it is, you can chk. the codes yourself, get a paper clip unfold it so you got 2 strate ends, find your dianostics port where you plug in the sccanner, take the paper clip and stick one end into the one on the far right and the other to the one next to it and turn ignition key to on position, chk. engine should start blinking if not move the last end of paper clip you pluged in to next one in port until it does( turning key off each time before you move paper clip end) do this procedure until the light starts to blink. When it blinks count the blinks, for example it will blink one time than a paus than blink twice quick witch means 12 and so on. It will start out with a 12 witch means the computer is ready to give stored codes. Just write down the codes and either take them to napa, or auto zone, or to a shop you know, and they can tell you what they mean. On a car that old it could be almost anything, parts wear out, but right now what stands out to me by your discription i would chk. the cadalitic converter it might be pluged. Take some advise get someone that knows something about cars or at least works on them on a regulator bases. That way your not playing a gessing game.
