    car dont start glow plugs are ok fuel pump cant be prime manually no fuel seem to be coming to fuel filter suspect faulty pumptook lines out and cranked little fuel coming out with air bubbles fuel pump or fuel cut off switch?

    i took out the fuel pump and manually plunge the plunger on fuel pump it sucks ok on one side and pushes on the other,no work was done on neutral safety switch how do you test fuel cut off switch?

First I would look at the neutral safety switch. See if it will start when you put it in neutral. Recently you make any work repair there?

The most likely problem is a leak in the fuel system, allowing air to enter. With the engine not running, look at the bubble in the line entering the pre-filter - this is the line going from the right-rear corner of the aluminum filter mount block going to the fuel heater in the engine block. If there is more than about 1" of air in there, you likely have a leak. These cars are notorious for air introduction due to old and faulty o-rings and fuel lines, symptoms range from serious lack of power, hard starting, rough idle etc.

Another common problem is a bad shut-off valve on the injection pump. There is almost certainly nothing wrong with the pump itself.

    I'm not sure how to test for this as think this car it is electrical
    compared to the older vacuum controlled devices that can be tested with a
    mighty vac.

    I suggtes looked in the trunk for the reset button
    for the electric pump. What I think to be the
    reset button in the trunk is sitting in the driver's
    side rear panel covered with a rubber boot.
    Just electricla test to know if its working.

You cannot accuratly check the freon level without compressor engaged. Without car running that needle better be pegged or its low. Charge with car running with dials set to max cool with fan speed on hi. Slowly while charging with compressor engaged bring it up to 2K rppms while filling. Should take around 3 cans. Get the stuff with stop leak.

Check your fuel filter, fuel pump, etc. What temp/where are you? Cold weather may gel diesel fuel or biological contamination in the tank/fuel system. Be very careful with diesel fuel lines..high pressure can inject through skin. Some people have used starting fluid but too much can be bad for head gaskets....

The wells around the injectors on my mercedes engine are filling up with diesel


Check the connectors to each injector and tighten each one to specifications. Also check for clogged injectors vedry possible after so many years of use. Back pressure from the pump could be forcing diesel past the seals!

2500 dollars ,you joking or what a petrol one at that ,petrol engined vehicle isnt worth a light ,diesel yes but a gas guzzling CO2 emmiting monster ,with the cost of road tax as high as it is on this pollution machine .No its not worth anything if fact the present owner should pay you to take it away.This vehicle in the UK would sell for about 100/500pounds if your lucky and the top end price is if its working ok with a full years road tax and roadworthy certificate.here in spain about 1000euros or so, now a diesel in full working condition with papers in order and roadworthyness certificate about 2500euros .Dont touch this motor unless its given to you for FREE .You are joking about the price?? having a wind up ?? taking the proverbial pi??

Car not starting


Only thing is Diesels dont use spark ignition. Most reasons for failure of diesels to start is in the glow plug system. Usually just replacement of all glow plugs is sufficient but could be deeper. If you know what your doing you can give a small spritz of starting fluid in the air cleaner and it will start and stay running usually proving a glow plug problem. But please be warned a small spritz. Too much ether can damage a diesel engine. Hope I helped. Thanks
