I hear a knocking noise when i turn on the heat or ac

It sounds like you have something in your blower motor/fan housing that's hitting the fan when it's running. Something may have fallen down the defrost vents on the dash. Or, a bad bearing in the blower motor. Either way, the blower motor would have to be removed. Sorry, but I'm not familiar enough with that model to tell you how to do it.

CHECK BLOWER MOTOR FUSE AND RELAY.IF ALL IS GOOD.BEST TO REMOVE BLOWER MOTOR HOTWIRE IT.IF DONT WORK REPLACE BLOWER MOTOR.IF BLOWER MOTOR WORKS.YOU HAVE FAULTY CONTROL SWITCH OR MODULE.BESURE TURN OFF RADIO FIRST YOU NEED TO REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.WAIT 15 MINUTES BEFORE WORKING UNDER DASH.THIS WILL DISARM AIRBAG AND BCM UNDER DASH.YOUR BLOWER MOTOR UNDER DASH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FAR TO BACK.YOU NEED TO REMOVE BOTTOM PANEL TO GET TO IT.

Coolant system

The car overheats because the fan system is not working. The engine coolant sensor tells the computer to turn on the fan when it gets hot and also sends temperature readings through the computer to the heat gauge. Try turning the AC on if you have it--it should immediately start the cooling fan. If nothing, check the fan fuse and relay. It's also possible that the fan motor is frozen due to bad bearings. Try replacing the coolant temperature sensor to see if that restores the gauge readings. Hope some of this helps!

There is a noise that my heater makes when the heat is on. The heat still works, but as you turn it up higher , the noise gets louder. What could be causing this?

Probably some leaves or debris in fan cage. remove fan and clean. or it could be a bad fan motor bearing remove and replace.

I turn the the fan on for the heating but the fan

Sounds like a seized up (bad bearings) blower motor. It may not pull enough current to blow the fuse at the lower fan settings but does at the high one. Something could also be jamming the blower fan in its air duct.

Most blower motors can be accessed under the hood. Replace the fuse then put the blower switch on one of the lower settings (don't blow the fuse). Get yourself a good sized screwdriver and hit the back of the blower motor with the screwdriver handle a couple of times.

Sometimes (unless the blower motor has totally seized up) you can get it to spin and this will tell you for sure you need a new blower. Other than that, you can get a spare blower motor, remove the connection wires from the old motor and hook them up to the new one to test before you go to the trouble of replacing the blower.

Hope this helps you out... -Dan

The fan for the a/c dosnt blow how much trouble is it to replace one in a 2000 impala. and is there such a thing as a web sight with repair guides for cars?

can be a pain,
but would double check that the fuse is not blown, and as well that it is not a failed relay---check in the manual or Haynes for diagram/circuit if has a relay/location.
...if fan failure, would expect to have made noise, or at least acted abnormally before failure (bearings/sleeves, etc).
...and to be clear, by fan you mean the same fan (in the dash) that blows air from the heater, and not the radiator fan that turns on when you turn on the A/C?

Diverter Fan broke affecting air and heat

it is not you fan ticking. there is a big door in your heaterbox that switches from heat to a/c. alot of times the motor that turns this door gets jammed. if the motor is removed and the door turned manually, turning the car on with the motor {flap motor} removed still , turn the heat to cold, wait for the motor to stop turning, then bolt it back onto flap and you should be fine.mercedes is not perfect, sometimes you have to remove the dash to access this flap motor

Rad fan makes car shake 2003 sunfire

I would check the radiator fan in the car for looseness. If the fan wobbles or moves , Then change out the radiator fan. The radiator fan and motor come as one piece. There is a fan relay also should be replaced.
When turning the key only half way to make the dash fan work, indicates that the dash fan is okay.
The dash fan may make a whining or high pitch noise when engage. Then I would change it out because an internal bearing to the fan is going out.

Good luck
