Question about 2004 GMC Sierra

2 Answers

I need to replace the antenna mount on a 2004 GMC 1/2T Crew Cab. I have removed the 3 bolts holding the base to the chassis, but cannot access the transition point where the cable connects to that of the radio. It is somewhere under the dash. Is this a pain? Should I pay a dealership "5 hours labor" to remove the dash? For a $20 part?? HELP

It is a pain in the behind!!! You can do it without pulling the dash. remove glove box and feel up there follow antenna lead you will feel a connector will have foam tape wrapped around it.alot of times it takes two people one to feed cable and one to look for it and grab it. another option is to cut the wire at base and connect a piece of wire to it(smaller diamater) and pull antenna cable thru then attach new cable to wire and GENTLY pull it thru.

Yes. It is a pain. You have to remove the dash and it is going to take someone that has not done it before way more than 5 hours. I would say more like 8-9 hours. And also you have to worry about messing up other things like the air bag, temp controls, etc. I would suggest taking it and having it replaced.

How to tighten cab mounts

Bolts located on underside of the truck. I believe that 6 bolts hold the cab on to the frame if its a crew cab. Four bolts can be seen from laying under the truck. You can see the rubber mounts that attach it the the cab from the frame. The other 2 in the back are on the floor board by rear seat or back panel. they connect to the frame also. Make sure the cab is aligned with the bed. It can be shifted. Make sure the bolts are straight and not leaning forward or backwards. Inspect the rubber cab mounts to make sure they are good. You will understand when you start investigating the mounting area.

Remove antenna off a 98 blazer

  • You have to remove the hood and fender to access that bold that holds the mount in lace. This is from the service manual and I have had to do this when I replaced mine on my 99 Blazer. The antenna itself screws into the base. There is a bolt at the base to loosen and tighten.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

How do I change a front wheel bearing on a 2004 gmc sierra 4x4

The hub, bearing, and ABS sensor are a single unit on this vehicle. You need to remove the wheel, brake rotor & caliper [don't disconnect the brake hose from the caliper, just support it out of the way] and then remove the large nut that holds the axle shaft in the hub assembly. Once you have all this loose or removed you'll find that the hub is held on with 3 fairly large capscrews that come in from the backside of the steering knuckle that the hub attaches too. Assembly is just the reverse of the process. Make sure you tighten all the bolts and nuts securely with a torque wrench [I don't have the torque spec's here] I apply threadlocker to all of these bolts as they are vital to safety. I only use OEM hubs on these as I've had the best luck with them and the ABS sensors inside of them.

Where is the cabin filter on a sierra 2004 gmc sle crew cab truck

The 04 SIERRA is behind a panel with 4 screws under the glove box...Remove the screws and cover and slide it out. There is actually 2 in there and it is easy once the cover is off.

Usually there are extremely detailed instructions that come with the new filter when you open the box...Follow these instructions it shouldn't be too hard.
