If the spark plugs are in the midle of the head, the most common problem are the valve cover gaskets or seals.

Oil is getting into the combustion chamber and fouling your plugs. The overall problem is that the engine is 20 years old, specific problem is that you need a ring job and/or a valve job to keep the oil out of the combustion chamber. Check for a price on a rebuilt engine exchange, if not available or too expensive then you need to find a junkyard which has old Isuzus and find a similar engine with much lower mileage and swap it in. Either situation means you are going to spend more money than the vehcile is worth to fix it so you might just want to scrap it and find one about 5 years newer.

If you had a head gasket leak then there would be higher oil pressure but I think you would notice other signs of problems. Air and oil are typically sucked into the carburetor or air intake from the top of the valve cover. This is the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve. You could try changing this valve. They are cheap and it is pretty easy to do yourself. In Honda's they can have problems leaking oil from this point and if yours is clogged for some reason, that may help (not sure).

As far as blowing a spark plug out, that is a pretty big problem. Immense pressure has to happen for the threads to fail, unless the spark plug wasn't screwed in all the way. I would say there is a mechanical problem in your engine somewhere. Either timing is off slightly or a valve isn't working correctly, or there is something in the cylinder that hit against the spark plug.

How did they repair the spark plug problem?

Change sparkplugs

Oil is unlikely to be leaking out of a spark plug, more likely leaking on to it. Many things can cause this including a damaged head or leaking cover gasket. If oil is truely leaking out of the spark plug then your engine is either very worn or your valve oil seals are shot

Will overfilling oil during an oil change cause the valve cover gasket to leak oil into the spark plugs

no if you are referring to inside the cylinder. yes if its just in the hole where the plugs.no shouldn't cause valve cover gasket to malfunction its possible but not likely. it was a existing problem just more excessive with more oil. though it would cause oil to come out any where it could.

Missfire cylinder 4

Look for oil in the spark plug wells from a leaking valve cover. This can cause a cylinder misfire. Old and worn spark plugs as well as plug wires can cause this as well.

Car will kick over when starting ignition but wont start

Sounds like your valve cover gasket is leaking oil into your spark plugs and is causing both of your problems.  if you have oil on one of your plugs then that plug can't fire correctly causing the car not to start.  I would suggest that you change the plug that has been fouled by the oil and check the wire if it got a lot of oil on it as well as the oil can degrade their ability to insulate, and the plugs will start arcing up the sides and engine will start misfiring. You should be able to change the valve cover gasket relatively easy with a couple of tools.  Hope this helps.  Thanks for ranking my response and for using FixYa!

Oil around spark plugs on 1992 honda accord

Yes the oil can cause the car to lose spark, the oil leak could be caused by the valve cover gaskets around the spark openings, but 9 times out of 10 it is the spark plug tube "O" rings. The top of the valve train comes off of the head, the "O" rings are between the two halves, that will fix the oil leak.

Sounds like misfire. Change spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor , fuel and air filters. Check for oil in spark plug holes. if oil found change valve cover gasket spark plug orings. they can leak oil into spark plug holes and cause misfire.

Oil in the spark plug tubes. engine misses when at an idle.

You probably have a leaking valve cover gasket causing the leaking oil to collect in the spark plug tubes.
The miss fire is probably caused by the HT in the plug lead shorting through the oil and causing a weak spark.
Clean all the oil out and track down the leak.
