You don't necessarily need a new fuel pump module. Likely the fuel level sending unit has gone bad. It is entirely possible that the level sending can be replaced without having to replace the entire fuel pump module. However the fuel tank will still need to be pulled in order to remove the module so that you can replace the sender.

I didn't see one aftermarket but I only checked NAPA. You can certainly call around or even try the dealer to see if you can get just the sender.

On the other hand fuel pumps are pretty common failures on GM vehicles. If you have the module out it wouldn't be a bad idea to just replace the whole thing. If you do decide to replace the module make sure you replace it with a quality part. A/C Delco and Delphi are to of the better brands. Also put a fresh fuel filter on. Changing the fuel filter every 30 to 36 thousand miles will significantly increase the life of the fuel pump.

Fuel gage on my 2002 Blazer is reading full

I just replaced the fuel pump on my 2000 ZR-2 blazer and the fuel sensor was made on to the pump. It is in the gas tank. It is a flotation type device. You have to drop the tank, turn the lock ring counterclock wise pull the unit and replace it.Be careful installing it because if you bend the plunger rod it will not read correctly

sounds like a bad fuel sending unit, the fuel level float is not reading the proper amount of fuel in the tank, replace the fuel level sensor (sending unit). hope this helps

My 2000 chevrolet blazer will not start unless i use starting fluid

Hello, this indicates a weak fuel pump. fuel pressure real critcial on this vehicle. you will need to check the fuel pressure with a mechanical gage at the test port on the fuel line, near the throttle body. here is the fuel pressure spec.

When the ignition is ON and the fuel pump is running, the fuel pressure indicated by the fuel pressure gauge should read 414-455 kPa (60-66 psi

Fuel gage does not work. The gage will read full but after driving for about 30 miles it will read empty & the light chimes on.

sounds like a bad float / sensor or just a bad ground.
Check the connections where the fuel pump goes into the gas tank. Make sure the ground is good and solid and not rusty. If wiring is good the float is probably bad

2000 Buick Century gas gauge reads full all the time

You're either looking at a short in the wire that goes to the fuel sender, or a bad fuel sender. If it was just a broken wire, it would read empty instead. The fuel sender is a permanent part of the fuel pump, so that has to be replaced as a unit.

I have a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo the gas gage is not reading correctly i fill it up and it reads empty and the gas light is on all the time.

The fuel level sending unit is located inside the fuel tank along with the fuel pump and will need to be replaced if it has burned out. It may be included with a new fuel pump assembly or sold seperately. There could be a bad electrical connection so be sure and check that all electrical connections are clean and secured before you spend money replacing parts and removing the fuel tank.
