don't push your luck, engine is overheating, check if cooling fans are working, to check jump wire fan direct to battery, fan should run if good. if it does, cooling fan switch maybe defective. one on engine and one on bottom of radiator. replace if need be.

if engine over heating coolant over flow jug will boil over you will see steam.sound like you have either faulty engine coolant temperature sensor or could have faulty fans relay or fuse or pcm problem if coolant fans dont turn on.have garage with code scanner that can do a snap shot on coolant temperature sensor check see how hot coolant temperature is see if coolant temperature over 220 degrees engine getting too hot.could have faulty water or blowed head gasket check engine oil on oil dip stick look milkly you have blowed head gasket. i use infra red laser thermometor check see how hot engine is over 107 celsius engine is overheating.

Car running hot

Check fan relay and wire connections; if they are ok, and the fan work if you jump directly, could be the temperature sending unit, engine temperature sensor out of range or thermostat stuck. Stop the car, could overheating and damage other components and engine itself.

2001 pt cruiser over heating wired fan direct fan works but car still over heats replaced thermostat temp. sensor fuses etc...

Sounds like the engine head gasket needs to be replaced. The gasket has deteriated from the engine cylinder and coolant passage and overheating the coolant. Sometimes you will see coolant mixed with engine oil, or milky solution on the oil dipstick

Cooling fan not working, overheating

Replace the cooling fan relay switch. On the engine Coolant temperature Sensor make sure the sensor wire is still pluged into sensor and there is no damage to the wire in that area. If the wiring looks OK and was still pluged in then replace the Sensor. If you have allready figured out that the relay and the temperature sensor are OK. Key Off, then unplug the Cooling fan (near the fan) from the engine wirring harness.Run two wires from the fan plug directly to the battery, place one wire to one post the other wire to the other post. If the fan comes on then it is Ok if it does not come on then replace the Fan. Good Luck and have a good XMASS.

2007 Pacifica overheated. Outside Temp only 80. Doesnt appear that front fans are working and coolant level in resevior get higher.

Turn on the AC--it should start the radiator fans immediately. If nothing, check the fuse for the fans. The relay for the fans is a solid state device that is controlled directly by engine computer. The computer reads the coolant temperature sensor which tells the computer when to turn on the fans for usual cooling. Try to turn each fan manually (engine cool) and check for bad bearings, or fan blades--both fans should spin freely without any noise. If the fans come on with AC, then replace the temperature sensor which should be located near the attachment area of the upper radiator hose on the engine. It will have a single wire attached, and look like a small brass plug with threads. Watch the engine temperature for a while after the repair as the overheating may have damaged the thermostat element. Hope this helps!

Is the eletric fan coming on?

I have a 1988 dihatsu charade that keeps over heating, have changed hose clips and checked eletric fan fuse, any ideas

Engine overheating can be caused by one or more of these reasons: 1) Little or no coolant/liquid in the engine cooling system, 2) faulty connections of hoses, 3) failure of auxilliary fan to operate (for FWD vehicles; temp sensor failure also) 4) cracks or leaks in the engine cooling system, and 5) failure of the water pump assembly.

Have these thoroughly checked out to find the cause of your problem. If all factors point to a sealed and working system, there might be a clog somewhere that prevents efficient operation at higher speeds.

Hope this helps.
