Question about 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage
My Mirage 2000DE 1.8 gauges stop working recently.First they kinda come on and off 'till they stop working at all.I've checked the fuses and electrical wiring behind the panel but no leads yet to the source of the problem.I have no reading in the tachometer,.temp.gas,spedometer or odometer .The car is in mint condition only 64.000 m and everything works perfect ( until now that is). Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.Ty.
I had this same problem with a 2001 mirage. Remove the bezel around the instrument cluster by taking out the two screws at the top out then gently pull. Remove the instrument cluster .Four screws two upper and two lower. Again pull cluster towards you gently. This will unplug the cluster. Once out you will find a very cheap paper type circuit board at the back of the gauges. A trace at the lower middle part of the cluster folded under has cracked right under a plastic clip. I solder in a small wire to by pass the break in the trace, or you can order a new paper circuit board from Mitsubishi part #mr444589 cost about 60.00$

It sounds like it is an electrical short of some kind. There may be a lined computer type paper attached to the back side of your instrument panel that has some bad spots on it. you can call your local dealer and ask them if there is such a thing on your instrument cluster. i would suggest you take it to the Dealer to have them check out the problem, as they know best what would cause this problem, instead of you taking it to a local area shop that would not have the means or the knowledge as much as the dealer does about your car. I would also call the dealer and ask them for any recall problems with your car, as this may be a recall issue. You will need to give them your VIN number off your car, and then they can tell you of ANY recalls on your vehicle that are repaired for free of charge on parts and labor.
