Question about 2004 Mazda 6

1 Answer

My Mazda 6 diesel has been stalling every time i slow down or stop. It used to restart straight away but now it will not start at all. Had the same problem in Feb 2010 and had to have the vehicle towed by the AA to Mazda Liverpool. They replaced the fuel pump a seal and and a valve. I am now having to consider getting the car towed back to Mazda to see if any of the replaced parts have failed. does any one have any idea whatcould be the cause of this problem. I have read that the SCV can be at the root of this but suspect this may be the valve Mazda changed last time

NORMALY, THE SCV VALVE IS THE PROBLEM. IF NOT , THE RAIL COULD BE THE PROBLEM.

My 94 mx6 keeps stalling

I would not recommend throwing parts at it.
If the computer or O2 sensor is the problem you should have a check engine light on the dash. Usually the EGR valve causes a problem when you are slowing down not just on turns.
If you have not replaced the fuel filter this year I would do that to scratch it off the list.
The throttle position sensor could be failing but not to the point of turning on the check engine light. It can be tested with a meter.
You need to find out if you are loosing fuel pressure or creating a vac leak when the stall happens. Could be a vac hose or something that is moving when you are moving the engine.

Stalling wenever we slow down but restarts straight away and the speedometer stopped working

idle may be a little bit too slow if has a carby or possibly fuel is being restricted by dirty fuel filter or dirty injectors. also may have an air intake restriction or the air/fuel ratio sensors may be playing up if it is fuel injected. the speedo is either a loose connection or damaged wire otherwise the gauge is faulty and needs replacing.

Turns over but wont start

Sounds like your fuel pump is going out. The easiest check is to pull out the rear seat cushion and remove the fuel pump access cover in the metal body under the seat cushion. Once you get the car started, drive it around someplace where you won't mind breaking down at. You will hear the high pitched wine of the fuel pump the whole time, what you will be listening for is when the car dies does the fuel pump stop as well. If it does, that means that is why the car died, because the fuel pump shut off. If you replace the fuel pump... wear safety glasses, disconnect the car battery, and have a repair manual w/ you at all times for reference.

Revs drop coming to standstill

Here is the cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Mazda 6 2.0 136bhp diesel stalls all the time on tick over.

The problem is the SCV valve, that regulates the fuel pressure at the injection pump. The problem is solved when we replace that valve.

In that link you have the picture of the valve and its part number.

Wants to stall at idle.
