Question about 1996 Volkswagen Golf

Open Question

Alright i have a 1996 VW golf gl 2.0 5 speed manual and recently it's been puttering at low rpms. My check engine lights been on pretty much since I bought the car I check it when it first came on but it went off after like a week so I figured just a loose wire or something. But now I got the obd codes since it's consistently on. 1. Manf. Control veh speed idle speed control auxiliary inputs. 2. Sensor heater circuit malfunction bank 1 sensor 2 3. Sensor ckt no activity bank 1 sensor 2 4. Evap emission control system malfunction. No it seems to me ( completely inexperienced) that it would involve my bank 1 sensor 2 but I have no idea what that is or where it is or anything. Can you guys help me figure this out?

SOURCE: engine light code P1507:

P1507 is "Idle Air Control System Underspeed Error". This code indicates a problem with the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve assembly, harness wiring for the IAC or the Powertrain Control Module. So checking the IAC next is the most logical step.

I have 96 vw jetta gl 5speed... just got a month ago. needs muffler & wipers dont work. appears fine otherwise UNTIL I go above 45 (2200 rpms) then the oil light flashes and there's a horrible...

That would be the high speed oil pressure sensor telling you there is a problem with your oil pressure.Your computer is reading insufficient oil pressure to maintain engine integrity above 2000RPM.
There are 2 oil sending units mounted on top of the oil filter housing. I don't have wiring for your year so I can't tell you for sure, but on my 1992 they are brown ( low pressure) and white (high pressure). Check the wiring carefully for cracks or bare spots in the insulation and fix any you find. Also make sure the wiring is good at the plug-ins. VW wiring won't tolerate cracks and often will break right where it meets the plug-in. Also if you have recently moved these wires you may have plugged them in wrong. I would most definately get the pressure checked with a mechanical oil pressure guage to be sure of the pressure. If it's good, 29 PSI at 2000 RPM then I would be looking at a bad sending unit. Hope this helps.

1997 VW Golf GTI 2 Litre. The ABS light comes on

Hello, My 2000 2.0 Golf just recently had the same problem. I would feel the ABS pump working at certain times through the accelerator pedal. I found the right rear sensor failed the Bentley manual continuity test . After removing it I found it was pretty rusted. The sensor head is located inside the rear brake disc hub area and this probably explained this rust. The rust probably worked its way into the sensor body where you can't clean it and thus the resistance value went above specification. I ordered mine through Autohaus and cost me just over $50.00 for both rear sensors. Even though my drivers side was good I replaced it at the same time. The ABS light hasn't been on for 4 days now..

2003 vw golf making a ticking noise from under the hood?? the oil light blinks on sometime but goes off when i get above 3000 rpms?? what does this mean

i think it means you need to add oil,,,if you got a oil light comming on that means its low on oil and a ticking noise that also means its low on oil,,,change your oil asap before you ruin the engine

2003 VW golf o2 sensor?

Yes, it could be something else, other than the converter, such as a faulty o2 sensor. Take your VW to Autozone or Advance auto, and ask them to a do a scan, to see what they come up with ( think it's free).

It sounds like the hydraulic lifters are bleeding down after sitting for a while... there are ball checks which are supposed to prevent this... Try using a good engine flush (a product that frees sticky lifters) and replace the oil with a good synthetic... Hope this helps...;-)
