Remove door handle with t-30 and you will see two rods, one going on the left and one going down on the right. reach in and pull the bottom one up with a couple of jerks. if it dosent move, try the top one a couple of times and push and pull the door in and out to try to free it up.

the latch in the left rear door is either bad or stuck, open door, then with a screwdriver, rock latches in door to simulate closed. release with exterior handle. spray lubricant (WD40) into latches and continue to exercise the latch. if this quick fix does not work, then a new latch for this door may be needed.
If the door ajar indicator on the cluster is also on, might want to soak the door latch with WD-40. The door ajar and interior lights are turned on when the door latch is open. Some times the switch gets stuck, and a good soaking of WD-40 will release it. The door latch and the switch for the door are the same unit.
Remove the interior door panel this can be done with the door closed. peel back the moisture barrier, look inside the door and you will see a latch mechanism with two cables next to it, the top cable releases the top latch and the bottom cable releases the bottom latch, the top latch cable is probably not mounted to the latch (anchored) you will probably have to replaace it with a new one, then it should work fine. Hope this helps, let me know
if you look at the latching mechanism on the bottom of the door, you will see two metal teeth. If they are close together, you will have to have somone hold the handle like they were opening the door and use a screwdriver to seperate or open the teeth. Then you shold be able to close the door. Hope this helps :)
You will have to open it from the inside-Yes, I have done it and it takes about 15 min. or so.-I have also posted about 40 images, after I opened the door-In an effort to contribute a little to all the lost souls with the Curse of the F150 3rd Door issue. Hope this helps-BTW I just did this on 12/04/2011-found my particular issue-I will need a new cable, so I'll have to go to the dealer tomorrow and buy one. Also included images of the tools needed-Good Luck! Link to the images are here>>>http://s289.photobucket.com/albums/ll220/techdispatch/F150%203rd%20door%20curse/?start=all
