Usually an indication of a bad ignition module. Depends on which engine you have, but as the module gets warmed up, it will get an open circuit inside of it. As it cools off and shrinks back down, it will start up an run awhile. Hope this helps
When was the last time that the carburetor was stripped and cleaned? Also have you checked the fuel filter? Finally, the problem seems to come and go as the engine is run (and it gets hot) check that the fuel line and any electrical cables are well away from the hot engine as far as is possible.
Yeah, it's worth it. Probably a coil pack. But this is a guess. When you take it to a garage and they diagnose it. They tell you this is the fix. They are liable.
easy this question as its so simple ,look on the air intake and their should be a take off pipe from teh exhaust pipe manifold so warm air is picked up to stop the venturi from freezing in the intake manifold ,either the operating mechanism is broke or the vacumn pipe running to it is perished or the end split ,if you cannot get it sorted make sure the valve flap from this hot pipe is open and block the cold intake pipe off with something that cannot get sucked into the engine
I just recently have been fighting the same problem with the same make/model/year vehicle. For myself, I would drive off and on through the day and it would run fine. Then suddenly after a start it would run rough and die. I would have to wait 20 to 60 mins before it would start again. I had it checked and fuel pump was only putting out around 19 psi. It should be around 41 psi. Had fuel pump replaced and no more problems. Furthermore, now it runs so much better. It's funny how over time I didn't notice how the performance was slowly degrading. Unfortunaley fuel pumps for this car run around $300.
You fuel filter may have go to the end of it's life and will need to be replaced. Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter, the filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles or once a year to ensure your fuel system is running 100%. the Aveo fuel- filter is located passenger-side rear, in front of the rear tire.
Good luck and start with this, keep me posted and Auto Zone can scan your car for the DTC code that your check engine light indicates there is an issue and the fuel filter can be bought there and they can give you the step by step instructions to replacing the filter.
