I have a 1995 monte carlo has no compression the cams are turning, does this sound like a head gasket

If you have a V engine (6 or 8) I would be surprised if both heads have blown head gaskets-even if you did chances are you would still have compression in some cylinders as usually only cylinders next to each other (not all on one bank) are low and not at zero regardless. Sounds more like your engine has jumped time so that the piston is coming up while a valve is open-you will need to remove the front of the engine Timing cover) to verify, and depending on what engine you have you probably only have to install a new chain and possibly gears if they are damaged-most Chevy engines are non-interference engines so you should not have to remove heads to repair it.

Replace the thermostat. After that, if problem persists, feel the radiator with engine at normal operating temp. If part of it feels cool, this would indicate a restricted radiator, Very common. Also purchase a block tester, available at napa or other reputable parts store for about thirty dollars. Follow directions, cheapest way to find head gasket breech into cooling system. Good luck!
