Question about 1992 Chevrolet S-10

Cut wire i am putting transmission in my chevy S-10 I bolted everything back up and went to checking and i seen a wire or couple between the bellhousing and the motor But I dont know where the wire goes to I do know it has a fusable link

02 jag x type how to remove starter


Hello sal... On the X type Jag everything comes out fron the top.

Remove battery and battery box
Pull back rubber cover at end of starter solenoid and undo wires
Un bolt 2 bolts that attach the starter to the bell housing/ Transmission. - these are vertical bolts, you can see them looking straight down from above. One of them has a ground wire on it.

Then lift starter and wiggle its way out of there.

If you have a manual transmission, have the starter tested, i have seen the bendix/pinion gear all gummed up with clutch dust, and then it wont engage properly and will make horrible grinding noises. This can be easily taken apart, cleaned, relubricated and put back into service.

Chevy Astro engine removal


You got it. No other short cut. You may want to look at pulling front clip. You can leave in radiator and condenser. And usaually less bolts. Wiring harness and body mounts at core and a few fender bolts. Good luck.

Put new fuel pump, fuse, and relay in 1998 chevy s10 and still no power to fuel pump


Did you check the ground wire on the frame. There is a ground wire that is bolted to the top frame rail near the left rear wheel opening. I've seen that wire break or get corroded where it bolts to the frame. I'm not sure of the location on a 1998 but that's where it is on the earlier models as well as the full size trucks. That wire also grounds the gas gauge, does the gas gauge read goofy? Also keep in mind the pump only runs for 3-5 seconds then it shut off, until the engine starts, or the starter is engaged. My 2000 chevy s10 pickup doesn't want to shift


Check your master and slave, If your slave is not fully depressing the pressure plate it would be very hard to shift.

Low fluid would not cause this. However there is a bolt on the side of the trans that you remove and put your finger in to check the level. If you put your pinky in and no fluid comes out it is low.

The slave often goes on the chevy's. It is internal, you have to pull the trans to replace it.

Also a pressure plate that is collapsing can cause the same problem. You are pushing all the way down, but it is not releasing.

Locating the starter on a 1994 chevy s10 v6


Passenger side of truck, Underneth, between the transmission and the engine up a little, if you fallow the exhaust pipe where it is bolted to the engine it it right next to where the pipe and manifold bolt together. If you are laying on your back looking up you will see it. There will be two wires going it it and it's held in with two 9/16" headed bolts, or if someone has put an updated engine in it they will be 15mm or 13mm headed bolts.

1983 chevy s-10 pickup 2.8v6 engine won't start


Just a long shot, but, (correct me if I am wrong about this), has the timing chain ever been changed? It is possible that it might have slipped a gear ot two. There could be other problems that has nothing to do with the changing of the Alt. Possible cam problems ? You will have to first check the timing.

96 Chevy S-10 starter problems


Just did this, take the long bolt out of the passenger side engine mount, loosen the two transmission mount bolts and jack the right side of oil pan slowly, when you do this there will be enough clearance between the bell housing and frame, be sure to use a jack stand to be safe.
Put the starter motor in the space with the selonoid up and wiggle forward into position then insert bolts and hook up connections. Let the motor down, put the motor mount bolt back in, tighten transmission mount.

Oh lord, are you in for some work. First of all you will need a transmission jack, a must and a couple of strong guys if you don't have a lift. First things first. Disconnect neg. bat. cable. Raise up on jack stands. Disconnect drive shafts and tape bearings caps on drive shafts. Remove Starter. Disconnect wiring harness plugs from transmission and transfer case. The wiring harness connection on the shift linkage does not remove. There are 2 connectors and are glued at factory. Remove whole shift linkage unit from side of trans. Remove exhaust. Remove dust cover. Mark spot on flywheel and tourque converter, then remove bolts from flywheel. Support trans. with jack. Remove transfer case bolts from trans. Remove mount nuts from transfer case bolts. Remove bell housing bolts from motor to trans. Remove bolts from crossover support for transfer case mount from the main frame. Raise up transmission and remove crossover support. One guy now supports transfer case and other works transfer case loose. The transfer has to be jockeyed around until it drops out. It will not come straight out or down because of the tor. bar support frame. It has to be wiggled out and down. Guy supporting transfer case gets trans fluid bath and this is all muscle work. With transfer case out, put another jack under motor for support or risk breaking motor mounts and other things. Slide transmission back and lower down and its free, It is a very dirty, oily, nasty hard job. I just went through it. I wouldn't do it again. If you can afford it, take it to a pro. Well worth it. Remember once started, your pretty much commited. Reverse the whole thing to install. Good Luck

Motor swap 88?


It sure Won't The Bolt Patterns are Different. And you will need to Cut out the Fender Wells to get the 350 to fit and use Hugger Headers and they would be a REALLY Tight Squeeze. I have seen it done though. Also the Rear End would Shell out unless you put a 12 Bolt in it.
