There is a square or rectangular plate on the underside of the intake that has a gasket which can get sucked in by the vaccum of the engine. Once it does that your engine starts sucking oil in from the cam and lifter area. I had this happen on several of the v8 engines. You will have to remove the intake turn it upside down and unbolt the plate and you will be able to see it the gasket has been sucked in. Replace that gasket and new intake gaskets and should fix it. Also for the ones i have done the did not smoke or show any other sign other than going though a lot of oil.

My Atos Prime 1.1 GLS has oil on the 3th and 4th plug and is smoking when stretching gears

depends on how many km /miles done on that motor
and service history and treatment

oil on plugs and smoking under load means
leaking rocker cover
oil leaks somewhere else where oil gets hot

lots of oil usage from sump means
oil seal leaks or sump pan leak
worn rings or valves in number 3 and 4 cylinders
or
worn valve stems that can be replaced with the head on

if the latter
a compression test is required to tell if an engine rebuild is required or fit a used engine

Excessive oil usage. Uses one quart/1,500 miles. Has 206,000 miles V6 3.6L

use 2 tools .
a compression guage. (RTM about the oil trick)
and the leak down tool , at spark holes.
this tells you the ring leak down rates, done correctly
all shops worth salt, know it.
if car smokes, bingo
if only smokes first start up, bad valve seals.

at 200k , this can be normal, if not freq. oil changes or was overheated.

a pro can tell you what leaks with the leak tool
valves or rings, or other places....all bad....

Sudden/Rapid oil consumption - no external leaks, no blue smoke out the exhaust. It will run fine, and keep oil level on full, I keep a close eye on the level, then suddenly almost all the oil will...

if the tail pipe is oil free to the touch you have a major oil leak. Look around the entire engine and underneath the engine to see if oil is on the ground

Oil usage still under warranty 2004dodge ram 1500 started using 2 quarts every 3000 miles. They say that is normal usage

That is NOT normal usage... I would escalate the issue to the Service Manager and insist that they resolve the problem.

If you do not get satisfaction, ask for the name and phone number for the district manager and make the call to complain. You may also consider taking the truck to a different dealer.

2004 nissan murano low 3 quarts oil. no sign of a leak and no smoke.

Hard city driving during the hot summer can and will cause a bit of oil usage. 1 qt in 500 miles is not excessive. If you recently changed oil and are using a different brand this also can cause a bit of oil usage, due to the engine getting used to it. Add to full and keep a good ck on it, it should level out. if not check your air filter, pvc valve, and any vaccume hoese.

Grey smoke high oil usage

It sound like you have a set of worn intake valve guides and seals. When your engine is idling , the intake manifold vacuum is high. If the guides or seal are bad, the manifold vacuum draw oil pass the valve stem. then in intake ports.

Oil usage Huyndai Santa Fe 2002 (4 cylinder)

If its a petrol motor then they will blow a little white smoke/steam on startup until the exhaust heats up. The engines computer knows that its cold so richens the petrol/air mixture to warm it up faster . You should let it warm a little before driving off or if you can't then don't rev it hard til it starts to warm up. All the parts inside the engine need to get to optimal running temp to wear properly. Most engines wear more on startup then when they have been running for a long time. In regards to smoke blue is bad (oil) black is bad ( to much fuel) and white is usually on startup.

Toyota 1998 Carib 1.6L using excessive engine oil?? Well maintained and looked after car can't understand y?

Well for starters, that oil has to be going somewhere, obviously.  So most likely it is the piston rings, these wear out over time regardless of how well taken care of your car is.  Check the exhaust out while the car is running, if there is a white-blueish smoke, thats piston rings.  if it is more grey-ish, thats most likely a head gasket, in which case check the coolant overflow for color, and remove the oil filler cap and look on the inside, if you see a nasty looking white film, thats caused by water/coolant in the oil, most likely leaking through a bad head gasket.  Or it may be leaking out somewhere, if there are no puddles it may be leaking near a hot exhaust pipe/manifold and burning off.
As long as you keep enough oil in it, it should be fine for a few years, just get it fixed eventually.  in the mean time you can also use oil additives to help string things along, ask the rep at your local auto parts store.  hope this helps!
