Question about 1999 Mitsubishi Galant
What is plugged into your vehicles diagnostic connector under the dash,is called a scanner.
It is not a computer and does not fix anything. It looks inside your vehicles computer, to see what it is doing.
O2 Sensor, not a chip. It is in exhaust pipe or converter, and tells the computer how much oxygen is in the exhaust gases,so the engine can adjust the correct fuel mixture.
The scanner does how every clear your check lights on the dash, they will come back, if you have a system malfuntion.
You can have issues,as you do,with no check light on or no stored codes.
Need to continue to diagnose your problem
