Question about Volkswagen Beetle

1 Answer

I have a 1998 VW beetle and it has had every major repair a VW can have. Unfortunately the battery continues to drain to the point where the car will turn off while en route on the street/highway/interstate etc... I have tried several different batteries and have always wound up with the same issue. Someone told me that the issue is electrical. I did have a custom radio installed right after I bought the vehicle. I am completely lost as to what to do. Any advice?

Vw beetle battery is good but something is draining it. sos help

The standard procedure is to disconnect the negative cable and use a test light or meter to measure voltage.
A test light between the battery post and ground will light up until the drain is knocked out.
You disconnect each fuse and cable until you find the drain.

Did you check the coolant level? if your low on coolant the sensor for the fans won't work, also could be a bad fan motor or just a fuse, if you continue to over heat the car you can do a lot of damage to the engine, blown head gasket, and the VW's are expensive to repair, take it to a good shop and have them check it out.
