Hello June.
In behind the radiator there is an electric fan designed to come on when the coolant reaches a certain temperature.
At low speeds such as in traffic there is little airflow through the rad, but at highway speed it greatly increases the airflow.
So I suspect that the fan isn't working on your car.
This could be a bad fan motor, a bad fuse, a bad sensor or a wiring problem.
Also check that something hasn't fallen into the fan and jammed it up.

Thank you for using FixYa.

2001 monte carlo ls 3.4 overheats!! replaced everything

You have to bleed the air out of the system. There are 1 maybe 2 bleeders on the front of the engine on the cooling system bypass pipe one near the upper hose the the othe on the drivers side of the pipe. They are brass with a small bleeder valve in the middle. Get the car up to temperature and take your time to allow all the air out. Refill cooling system after it cools. Hope you didn't do any damage running it hot.

2003 chevy monte carlo passenger side cooling fan not working

The passenger side fan should only come on while driving at highway speeds, to offer additional cooling help to cool down car, the Driver side fan is for when parked, ideling, city traffic, and air conditioner use. At least that is what i was told.

2002 monte carlo fuel gauge doesnt work, pump works ok.

It is likely the fuel level sending unit. I had a customer with an 03 Monte Carlo that the pump went out and the fuel gauge hadn't worked in about a year. We replaced the fuel pump module and it took care of both problems. I believe the sending unit is available separately from the complete module.

Mass air flow sensor bad on 2002 monte carlo ss

It's should be a simple remove and replace. Just make sure the engine is off. Also do not touch any of the filament wires on the sensor, just the plastic housing. Also after you install it drive the car for a little while (city speeds, cruising speeds and inbetween). That way the computer will be able to readjust its setting since it is a new sensor.

2002 monte carlo ss

The fuel filter is located in the pressure line that runs from the fuel tank to the engine, near to the fuel tank.
Keep the engine off for few hours before replacing the filter, to get rid of some pressure in the lines.

sounds like your passlock sensor on the ignition barrel is faulty. you will have to go to the dealer to have it replaced because of the programming after replacement.
