It's good to change the transmission fluid, but unless it's slipping or hard shifting or hard downshifting, i would wait another 15.000 miles but when you do change the transmission fluid i suggest you add lucas transmission treatment to the fluid change, it frees up sticky valves and does'nt break down as fast as regular fluid does.hope this helps!!!

How do you know when to flush your transmission

There are pro's and con's on that subject. Some want it changed every 3000 miles. Some say never as long as the fluid isn't brown and smells burnt. The reason is that additives in the fluid attack the glue that bonds the friction parts in the transmission causing early failure. Other opinions say it keeps the fluid free of small metal parts that wear, but that's what the filter does. I personally only add fluid when necessary and change the filter every 20 or so miles. I have a 92 Buick Riviera that has 96 thousand miles on it without ever having a transmission problem.

It wont down shift

Whens the last time you changed tranny filter and fluid. it may be the vacuum modulator or your bands inside the tranny. Pull out your tranny dipstick when running and check level of tranny fluid. Add dextron II of needed. Smell the tranny fluid on dipstick to see if tranny fluid is burndt. if you change filter and fluid, add a can of trans-x to the fluid. Will help seals in tranny.

How do you change fluid and filter for transmission on 97 cadillac deville

I would have the fluid changed at a shop that flushes out the old fluid and replaces it with new fluid, without having to remove the drain pan and filter. This is recommended every 30,000 mi.

I have a 2004 Cad Deville with 56k miles. when i reach 15 miles of driving at take off feel a hard shift at about 25 miles per hour.

check your tranny fluid. if low then add some. if fluid is full make sure that transmission pan is not leaking and if it is not see about getting you transmisson fluid changed. and if that doesnt work with only 56k i would say that would be a warranted item.

Recommended maintenence for 1999 cadillac such as throtle body, power steering, transmission, coolant, etc.

there is no maint required for the throttle body per say, just clean it if you develope a problem like stalling at idle, same goes for power steering, but a flush of the fluid every 30,000 miles is helpfull to extend life of pump and steering rack, the transmission needs to be given a fluid and filter change at least every 60,000 miles, the filters replaced for fuel and air every 30,000 miles and the spark plugs replaced at 100,000 miles.
