Question about 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier
Check the pulleies for slop in and out, back and forth. If it moves replace it. Also the tensioner will hang out when the belt is on. this is bad replace. this will solve your problem. also to check put the belt on, if any pullies are not in line/ straight replace it.
