Question about 2003 Cadillac Deville
Hello, when the low oil pressure light comes on this should always be treated as a possible actual case of low oil pressure, to verify the oil pressure is ok you must have a mechanical oil pressure test gage connected at the sending unit and if the oil pressure is within specs replace the oil pressure sending unit, the spec is at least 50-60 PSI at 1500 RPM hot engine. It is my personnel experience that the problem is caused by a defective sending unit for the oil pressure.
The location of the oil pressure light sending unit is on the oil filter adapter, to access the sender you must raise the car off the ground support it on jack stands and crawl under the car, the oil filter and oil filter adapter are on the front of the engine facing forward to the left of the center-line as you face the engine. The switch is shown below attached to the oil filter adapter housing.

Have the oil pressure tested with an accurate mechanical gauge. often the sending unit goes bad, but without testing it could cost you an engine before you find the problem.
If the mechanical gauge shows same low readings, you have internal engine wear (likely worn crank/rod bearings) Then, it's your decision on whether to drive it till it expires, repair it or buy a new vehicle.

The idle may be to low or the motor is just old and a new set of rod bearings is need with an oilpump to bring the pressure back up.

My 2004 Buick Rainier is saying no oil pressure, shut engine down...and then it shuts down. And it has been stalling...the rpm drops and rises while I drive it and when I come to a stop in drive it stalls now...I have to throw it into neutral and it will keep running when I stop...Please help!! It will fire up but just seems not getting the gas or something like that, my engine light is on as well and has been for the past year and this problem only just started 2 months ago.
