Question about 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 4WD

2 Answers

Changing Engine and transmission We have a 99 Dodge ram 2500 4WD extended cab with a 5.9L engine and are wanting to put a 5.9L 12 valve cummin's with trans. in out of a 94 Dodge P/U 2WD. Will most everything match up or will we have to gut everything from the 94 like computer, wireing harness and such? And/or where could we get info or diagrams to help?

He's right, to much of a difference in motor's, the 99 is a 24 valve, and the 94 is a 12 valve, even trans is different, exaust is different, with emmision stuff. turbos are different as well. the 12 valve is a smaller engine than the 24 valve, mont's are even different.

2007 dodge 3500, 5.9 cummins,engine light on, fault code p2146, running rough

It's a code that signify's you have a voltage circuit problem with one or more fuel injectors. When a problem is found with the fuel injector circuit it affects fuel delivery on all the injectors and that is why it is running rough.

Good Luck

Can i tighten the torque converter bolts on my 07, 5.9 cummins, with out dropping my transmission

There is a dust cover that comes off to allow access to these bolts, look in area between the engine and trans. for a cover about 1/4 the size of the bell housing.

Yes, they are exactly the same engine and tranny. Use the computer from the vehicle you are putting it in.

My transmission in my 1997 dodge cummins is leaking alot in the front by the oil pan, what could it be

Is the oil red or is it brown? If it is red meaning it is tranny fluid then the front seal must be out of your transmission. If it is brown meaning it is engine oil the rear main seal could be out of the engine.

Good Luck.

Engine replacement

any of the non computerized aka 12 valve cummins will interchange going from the p7100 pump on the 94 to the ve injection pump on the 92 may mean rerouting some of the fuel lines to hook it up. make sure you use all the sensors from the 94 engine though so all your gauges read correctly other than the fuel system the engines are identical though so should have no issues doing this

Engine shuts off when I put it on Reverse !

Idle may be too low. A lock screw is at the back of the P7100 mechanical engines, or 12 valve engines. If VP44 or 24 valve you need a dealer to change idle in the ecm. good luck...

Charging problem on 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins Turbo Diesel

I had the same problem on a 94 dodge with the cummins. It seems the crank sensor that reads from a notch on the harmonic balancer was the problem Without this sensor reading that the engine is running the alternator wont charge. Possibly the same problem with yours
