1997 Ford F250 light duty, 5.4L triton. Dash lights are off when exterior lights are on. Headlights, taillights, brake lights, and backup lights all work. Blinkers are stuck on, both sides, all the time, very dim. They do not blink at all. Everything worked fine three days ago. I'm guessing something is shorted out, but a clue as to where to start would be great. Also, 4wd doesn't work. I bought a new dash switch, hoping that will fix it, but am afraid to install the new one with the current electrical situation. That little switch was $80. I'm hoping this is all related and when the lights work properly, the 4wd will as well. The blinker indicators on the dash are both solid all the time, just like the blinker lights themselves. The indicator on the dash that tells me my brights are on, is on when the dims are on. speedometer, tach, and all other gauges light up with the lights off, but when turned on, go out. Cannot be driven at night very well, as i can't see my speedometer. Can't really drive it during the day either, as the blinkers don't work.

Your dash lites are on with headlamps off? I'd check the wiring for headlamp switch/dimmer. Not only check the fuses, check the fuse circuit for voltage, use a test lite. You could use a jumper to bypass dimmer, see if dash lites work.

SOURCE: 97 Chevy truck blinkers not working but hazards do

Try replacing the Flasher first before spending to much money for a possible simple fix. If it's not your flasher then it could be the turn signal leaver.
Ok, this may seem stupid, but that's what they did to the blazer. They set the flasher near the middle and under the center console behind the radio.

It's to the left of the radio right behind the dash. The hazard flasher and the turn signal flasher are side by side.  It right next to the Cig lighter behind the panel. They do mark the turn signal from the hazard flasher on the plastic behind them. Turn is on the right.

Good luck and hope this helps.

SOURCE: i have no headlights!! parking lights,

I have a 2004 ram 2500 and all my lights work except for low beams. It is not in the switch, I haver replaced the switch with no change. This is a circuit problem with these dodge pickups. I haven't firgured out what it is but it isn't the switch. and unless the low beams and high beams are fused seperate, it isn't a fuse problem either. i have looked for a fuse and can't even find the fuse for the headlights. Im lost like you!

Taillight works when headlights are on, but does not shine brighter when braking or signaling

Change the bulb. When you press the pedal the brake switch changes the circuit to the 21w brighter circuit for the brake light.

Hello, I am working on a 1988 Ford F250 for a friend and cannot get the backup lights to work. Power to brake and taillights but not backup can you help Thanks Mike

There should be a Back-Up Light Switch in the transmission, on the outside of the case or inside the Steering Column. Check that there is power going to the switch.

Wierd dash light

It's a warning that one of your exterior lights are not working. Could be any of them...headlight, taillight, brake light. Turn your headlights and emergency flashers on and take a walk around the car.

Taillights and signals work but no brake lights?

Check the brake light switch. It should be energized when the switch is depressed. (constant power in and power out only when pedal is pressed) Taillights and signals power through the steering column and light switch. BUT first check the fuses. I seem to remember there being a fuse for the truck brake lights and another for the trailer brake lights. Use a tester and check trailer wiring brake lights. If they work, look for the truck brake light fuse.

Turn signal and brake light problem

Had the exact problem on my 98 ranger 2wd reg cab stepside with the 2.5l 4 banger. Anytime I pressed the brake my passenger side turn signal would light up solid on the dash and the lights outside. I pulled both rear lights and both headlights and turn signals to check for corrosion/loose wires. Nothing. I checked and cleaned all my grounds and fuses. Nothing. Not until I followed my rear taillights wire harness did I find the problem. The two taillights are connected to each other via wire harness. My truck had the harness split with an adapter for trailer brakes. This harness was the problem. It is located under the rear bumper by the spare tire. Simply disconnect two harness plugs going into each side and remove it. Then connect the two plugs to each other. Problem solved.

Abs light on

I'm a Ford service adviser. There are many reasons for the
abs warning indicator to come on. The usual cause is from a
faulty speed sensor. Either a wheel speed sensor or the
differential speed sensor. I don't think the light is related to your vandalism. You might want to take the truck to an auto parts store and have them read the codes for you. Most auto parts stores will do this for free.
Good Luck
